Oris 01 774 7699 4134-07 5 22 19FC wrist watches news:
After a long absence from anything other than a perfunctory interest in timepieces I, Rip Von Winkle-like, awake to discover that some wristwatches have grown larger and heavier than many pocket watches. When did this happen? When last I checked making wrist watches smaller was a a goal. In the 1960s, in the case of women's watches, it may have gotten a bit overboard: they were shriveling up to the point of being unreadable (based on my fallible memory).A Waltham / Ball railroad pocket watch from the 19th century in size 18 was approximately 45mm in diameter.Over the weekend I saw an advert for a Swiss assembled wrist watch a full 52mm in diameter, 17mm thick (over 5/8"). It had a crown cover secured by a chain in the manner of a biker wallet. All these things were being presented as features rather than shortcomings and it appeared to be enjoying brisk sales. When did this happen? Does it happen a lot?It doesn't take a great deal of imagination on my part to conjecture some legitimate re
Once a chronometer-certified movement has been installed in a case it will probably perform differently than it did during COSC testing. One reason is the infinite angles it will be subject to while being worn as compared to the 5 stationary positions during certification. Some typical real-world situations your watch will see are: 5H / 60˚ angle: driving, reading the paper3H / 10˚ angle: typing (this is close to dial up or CH)8H near vertical: standing with hands at your side7H near vertical: standing with hands in pockets4H / 80˚ angle: elbow on desk, head resting in hand or on knuckles6H / 70˚ angle: sitting at desk hands foldedFor example, 5H means the 5 o'clock part of the dial is the highest point on your watch. 60˚ is the angle the watch rises from horizontal or the dial up CH position so 11 would be the lowest point. Naturally there are many more possible positions your watch can be in during the course of a day. Another thing to consider is that t
Hi guys. I've recently become more intrigued by the 41 mm ROC in steel with the white dial. Any sense of how widely available these models are (new), and what sort of discount I could expect to get from an AD? Thanks in advance for the help!
Hi everyoneI'm currently in Turks and Caicos with the family. I've spotted numerous Rollie's, a couple tags and the odd omega. This morning I got very excited because I saw someone wearing an AP, than after getting closer it turned out to be a hublot. Two days here and not one AP other than that on my wrist. Very sad. LOL. :) I actually brought my submariner but I've seen so many I don't want to wear it. Oh well, I still have five more days to try.
So I thought I'd see what 'blunders' have been made by parting ways with a watch you may have had. For me when I got into this game was 2008. Shortly after having known nothing about Rolex apart from what I read he on TRF for months I picked up a Y series 11610LV full kit from a local grey dealer. $7700 CAD I think I paid and I felt too high but I wanted it. It was the most money I ever spent on a timepiece. I did wear it for some time but at the time it felt a bit lost on my bigger wrist. Soon after the big watch trend came about and I wanted something bigger...so I traded it for a DJII No telling what I would have done with it had I not traded it so I guess it could be worse.Anyone want to share a similar experience?
