Elgin 6/0 Durabalance Automatic
Ever since I read about the Elgin Durabalance, and the 6/0 Durabalance automatics, I've been fascinated with them. I bought 6 watches - only three in working order - and an additional 2 movements for parts (I'll have 4 professionally serviced, working watches once the last one comes in).I scrounged up all the information I could, including buying THREE copies of the 1958 Elgin service manual to get a complete set of the updates (I have a spare, if anyone's interested). But the 'exploded view' in the manual didn't explain to me how the whole thing fits together. So last month, when I was able to buy a whole 761 movement for $7 on Ebay, and having by now taken apart probably 20 watches (and put 6 or so back together), I decided to tear it down and see how it all fits together.The intended victim. The arrow points to what turned out to be the only missing piece, the cap jewel and holding spring on the balance cock.First step is to undo the screw, remove the clamp, and pull off the rot

on Neo-Vintage pieces more than ever before.From Pre-A to "A" and then "B" and "C" the people are breaking them out of the hiding places. The buzz word is still Tritium...no bracelets, no Blue dials....just the basics of the Pam 2/9, 4/1, 23/29, 24/25, 26/27/28 and even the 27C has come up dramatically this week.Also in play are the Pam 36...good old Marina Militaire getting some play. Pam 57's are one of the last neo-vintages that has always kept its value.As the Newest line goes up in price it brings up the Neo Vintage, the the Vendome and then the Vintage......I see a lot of activity about to increase...this is where the collector's get the hot stuff and it is not for the feint of heart.Just my 2 centsRegardsElliot

My Daytona 116500LN Purchase agreement Contract
I've said on a couple of threads now that I signed a pre purchase contract for my daytona. Well here it is. I've blacked out the AD and the watch managers name.I had no issue signing it and was happy for them to keep the warranty card.It took me three years to get it.... To be honest I think it was luck on my part I'm not really sure I was ever on any list even though I had been pestering them for one.Take from that what you will. I'm not even close to being a VIP purchaser with this dealer however I do have service and purchase history with them.
