Panerai PAM368 wrist watches news:
My prize for winning the photo contest has arrived. She's been mounted (no jokes ) and pictures will be forthcoming.D
Well, I finally did it. I just purchased my "holy grail" watch. A WW2 era Benrus Sky Chief chrono. Pretty much the same as you see in my avatar. I'm really excited with this purchase guys, because while I've been collecting vintage Benrus watches for quite sometime now, it's always been the Sky Chief that I really wanted. It's the only chrono Benrus ever made, and this one is all-original and looks quite nice for being about 70 years old now. Many of them have quite a history behind them, like being used by pilots on actual missions over Europe during the war. I'm not sure of the history of this particular one, but I'm going to look into it and see if I can find something. Thanks to my wonderful wife and fortunate finances, this watch will be my Fathers Day/Birthday gift combined. It's now the most expensive piece I own!Well, here are some of the sellers pics. I'll try and get some wrist shots when I get it. The movement is a Swiss-made Venus cal. 175 manual wind. I believe early Breit
Both are lower end watches from both makers, but, they fit my budget and I like the way they look.First, the Swiss Military Hanowa Mountain Guide. Swiss made, Swiss quartz, and sapphire crystal. It is light, thin, and smaller watch. For less than a $100 I don't think you can go wrong with this watch. The other watch is a Victorinox Maverick II Dual Time Zone. Swiss made, quartz, anti-reflective sapphire, water resistant to 330 feet, and a rotating bezel. Of the two, this is the watch I really like. The anti-reflective crystal is simply amazingly clear and the watch face has subtle variations that constantly catch your attention. Quality wise, in my collection, I'd put this up there with my Hamilton Khaki King. It looks and feels well made. Plus, the rubber strap has a nice feel to it.
In rolex, there are the crowd favorite submariners and then theres daytonas. How about AP? And what is your holy grail
As a Rolex fan, I've not had a Panerai for the last few years. I sold my first and only PAM 104 to a work colleague about three years ago and bought myself a Sea Dweller with the funds.Years have passed and I've never gave any though to owning another Panerai, until last night.Whilst doing a weekly food shop I was drawn to the Panerai boutique window, once inside I looked at all of the high end Panerai's only to keep going back to the Submersible in the shop portal window. Anyway to cut a long story short within ten minutes I was a PAM 0024 owner and back in the Panarai gang again.Pictures to follow.
