What Do The Patek Philippe 3582 & The Apple Watch Have In Common?
I've been enjoying the Apple Watch for more than a few days at the time this post was written ¨C and it has got me thinking a lot about not just the future of electronic wrist watch functionality, but also watch design overall. What I've been most interested in is not only how smartwatch design will continue to evolve, but also what design precedents came before the Apple Watch that either helped inspire it or that it appears to coincidentally resemble.So, with that in mind, I felt it was a good idea to put together this fun little article on the odd similarities between the obscure Patek Philippe Ellipse Ref. 3582 (3582G) and the Apple Watch. I am actually rather convinced Apple was not at all inspired by the Patek Philippe 3582 during the design of the Apple Watch ¨C so I am not suggesting that this rare Patek Philippe Ellipse is some type of direct design ancestor of the Apple Watch. Thought this could be fun: What does your wife/girlfriend (or husband/boyfriend for some) think of your passion for watches? It's great to share with each other, but what about in the 'real world'? Is it a team effort, sharing in geekdom, giving each other reviews and tips, and skipping cuddling to take lume shots? Or is it 'to each his own', where there's an indifference in the air, and your collection goes unnoticed? Or do you flat out walk alone to the beat of ticking seconds hands, escaping laughter, ridicule and argument over "just a watch"?I'll go. My wife owns 3 beautiful pieces, one of which I bought for her. I usually see her wear each one maybe twice a year. For her, it is simply something that tells the time, and even then, "There's clocks everywhere I look, what would I need to wear one for." Problem with new watch
Hi All,I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the correct forum or not? Mods please move the thread if it should be elsewhere?I recently purchased a Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. It was "new" except for the fact that it had been worn by an employee of the AD for a while and hence was sold at a fairly heavily discounted price.I wore it nearly every day for the first few days after purchase (as you do) and didn't notice any problems. However I gave it a little holiday for a few days and only rewound it today with the intention to wear it.It was when I re-set the time and date that I noticed that the date change comes at 04:30 (when I would be asleep hence I didn't spot this issue before). I have checked the manual - and as you would expect the date should click over at midnight. Do you think this watch might have been badly treated by the AD employee who changed the date during that dangerous 21:00 to 04:00 period?
