Where Would I Find Info On 50's & 60's Seamasters ?
Hi fellas, I have made just one post here recently about a fairly pedestrian 50's Seamaster I picked up and was asking for help re a replacement crown. I thought I might give some background as I'd like to be part of the forum. I've just spent a while checking some of the amazing photos of forum members watches.To be realistic I'm just not able to afford high end watches. I'm just a retired old school teacher washed up on the high tide line, living on my govt retirement plan in a beachshack on the Nth Coast NSW Australia. I've realised that there are however a lot of old 50's & 60's Seamasters out there that are affordable and would suit me for a humble collection. Having been a teacher I know that the best way to gain knowledge is to ask people who know their area of interest. People that are passionate about their interest.What I'm trying to find is an good material, publications or sites that would help with expanding my knowledge of Seamasters from this period. Elgin vs. Lord Elgin
I know that the name Elgin has been associated with good quality watches in the original days, then other varying quality watches throughout the years.How about Lord Elgin? Did any of the subsequent companies ever use Lord Elgin, or if you get a Lord Elgin can you be certain that it was made during the glory years of Elgin?

Rad Rado
I have this popular wide leather strap and had my smallish gold GP on it. But I think it looks a little more blinged-out with my old Rado. Really pops on the strap, I think. It's quite a bit thicker. I like the Rado because of its unusual and classic case. It also has the honeycomb Hardlex crystal which makes it really shine and stand out. I have yet to see another crystal like this. I guess it is Hardlex (I think that is how you spell it), of course, if could also be sapphire. All I know is that you CANNOT scratch it. Submariner bezels- font question?
Am considering purchasing a used 16613, owner says it is an X series which would date it to 1991. But I am having a hard time with the way the bezel looks, and I can't find a definitive source explaining the different fonts.This is the bezel of the watch- This is a 1991 Submariner found online- I don't have to be an expert to see that the '4' and the '5' on the bezel are completely different.So is the watch actually a different year, has the bezel perhaps been changed for one that is not correct or were there different bezels used in the same year, and it was just an optional look?Thanks for all your help...Stanima
