Patek Philippe Patek Philippe 12170 wrist watches news:
Think I may have done well here - but if only I could tell green from gold! What I think I have is a 1931 Square B Plain with 987-F movement and etched dial no. 65. Gold filled case and bezel. If it's natural gold then this is one of 2,193 made. However, if it's green gold then it is one of 263. I'll assume natural gold fill unless proven otherwise. Making a wild guess that half the production run had the etched dial then this is one of about 1,000 examples. All for 111 bucks!!ebay image, my watch.
Hello everybody!I have been looking for more information about my great-grandfathers pocket watch that I have found in his belongings. There is no information about it on the internet or not at least this specific watch, so I hoping you guys can help me resolve this little "mystery" of mine. So, this watch seems to be made out of silver casing with engraved leafs all around it. On the back there is an engraved picture of horse rider on horse (maybe jockey), and standing near is 19th century gentleman with cylinder hat and walking stick. The numerals are roman, and hands looks like they are made of gold or at least gilded, with also golden or gilded dots all around the numbers. It also has smaller circle made for showing seconds or maybe stopwatch, I am not sure. On the inside there are two hatches, one from the clock and second one from the clock mechanism. On both hatches it is same serial number (I think it is serial number): 3075, and on the bigger, clock hatch, there looks like to b
While radium dials/hands have been phased out for decades now, for folks interested in vintage models does this feature pose any inherent dangers to the wearer?I have heard that as long as the case/crystal remain intact, there is no real hazard. on the other hand, some older radium models run 'hotter' than others. since radium has a half-life of roughly 1600 years (compared to tritium's 12.5 years) , the radioactivity is not going to go away during the course of ownership or one's lifetime.while the use of radium was prevalent during the 1930's, many 1950s era watches still used radium as an illuminating factor & I have read that a 'hot' radium dial can crank out as much radiation over time as a series of minor (i.e. dental) x-rays.should they be avoided or in a best case scenario...collected but not worn regularly?

Sorry for the quality and the poor color temp - I was just firing these off in response to a few questions I got.The mesh bracelet is OEM, like others have mentioned. I shot a couple close-ups of the hallmarks. The crown and He valve are really nicely done on this version. I prefer them to the ones on my 2500.My favorite design improvement on this watch versus the older versions is the design of the bezel. The thinner light band closest to the sapphire is much more proportionate than the previous version. I am also partial to the matte, lighter gray of this one as well. Looking back at the older version, it looks (at least to me) to be a cheap version. It almost looks like a knock off. I like the new one much better. Some may agree, some may not.I also got a couple other items from the boutique, but they are a few days behind me. I bought some other things and decided to ship some unnecessary items home via FedEx. The other swag includes Omega/PGA hats and a very nice white and rose gol
