Hamilton Cushion Form - a revival...
I came across this Hamilton last year - I could tell it needed some work, so set it aside for a while. Unfortunately I don't have a "before" picture of the watch at that time, but the crystal was cracked and the dial appeared to need some cleaning, but the case and bezel were in surprisingly good shape - very little wear. A few weeks ago I took it to my watch guy and had him take a look at it. After I left it with him, he called me and told me that he wasn't sure he could revive it. As you can see by this picture, when he opened the case, the movement looked as if it had been underwater!There was so much rust, the pinion on the second balance wheel was rusted solid, and the second hand was rusted to the dial.It took a LOT of work and I picked it up today - here are a couple of pictures:I wanted to leave the dial unfinished as I like the look of a nicely aged dial - even with all the rust I think it turned out pretty well! That was a good trip!
Went to see my watchmaker today, and he delivered on his promise of some interesting watches for me. First he showed me a rectangular 18K yg manual wind engine-turned dial Omega from the late 70's, then a great 18K rg (20 pennyweights of gold in the case! - that's almost $700 at scrap value even after the $50 drop per ounce in the last day) Bucherer chronograph with a Frederic Piguet mecaquartz hybrid movement. Okay, he's got me really interested with both of these, but there not quite jumping on my wrist for some reason. I don't understand why since I really like both brands but no big deal he's got a couple others to show me. Next is a Baume & Mercier SS chronograph with gold Arabic numerals at a great price too! But the last one floored me, and he knew it would - a late 50's SS IWC dress watch with the manual wind calibre 89. It's kind of Bombay-style lugs, but a little thinner and not as curved. Okay, so it's a sleeping nurse shark (my wife is far more dangerous in her natural habitat), but even so, my son thought I was pretty cool for touching the damn thing. In case anyone's curious, it felt like sandpaper.And yes, the Diver handled the mission with nary a hitch. Regards,Adam

Info wanted about this Constellation
I was given this Constellation Megaquartz 32khz quite a few years ago. It was very battered with a broken bracelet. I always liked its retro looks especially the cushion face. Recently I decided to have a go at restoration and I think it came up quite nicely. I was lucky to find a crystal. In fact my Rollies have taken second place for wrist time, for the moment anyway.I was wondering if anyone can tell me a bit about this model. I think its early 70's.
