Say hello to my new little friend. Not that Chanel let me walk away with one, but I wanted to. Call me a brand whore but I love what Chanel has done with their watches. Sure I might think twice about sporting a white one around town, but these new J12 Marine watches are pretty impressive. If you recall, the standard J12 watch looks like a dive watch. It is merely a dive "style" piece, based on the core Rolex Submariner design (with a different face of course). Now Chanel released a truer diver with 300 meters of water resistant, a more dive worthy legible dial, some interesting design features.The case is 38 or 42mm wide and in black of white. Still ceramic, the black case is bead-blasted for a matte, rather than shiny finish. Though the white version is still done with a glossy finish. Going after Blancpain's 50 Fathoms or IWC's Aquatimer, the J12 Marine has a sapphire crystal over the rotating diver's bezel. I love that look, but it is not for everyone. This time it was an Apollo 11 limited edition. Silver dial with black sub-dials. Why I keep doing this to myself, I have no idea, these watches feel amazing to wear. $4500 brand new plus 23% off...

With SS on the rise is it even worth not just biting the bullet for a PM?
Even if I’m talking new to slightly used with the SS market seemingly booming wouldn’t it be worth just going PM if cost isn’t a major obstacle or you just want a SS? I’ve been thinking about this and historically the PMs really seem to hold a large premium over what the cost difference was new. I know there are exceptions but I saw a LV for $12.5k USD and I’d think going for a solid gold Sub a better choice. But like everything this is speculation. 14060 vs 14060M vs 16610
I purchased a 14060 (not a M model) and have been really surprised at the differences between my 14060M and my 16610 LV. The case is thinner - I'd say at least by 1 mm. So it wears very nicely on the wrist. The dial also looks smaller, maybe the bezel is thinner, but it overall looks like a smaller watch at least compared with my 16610. The hands are thinner than my 16610. Anyway, just thought I'd share my observations. I can now see why there are folks that like the older models. I have a feeling this 14060 will get a lot of wrist time.
