Stopped in at my favorite local AD today as the manager had told me he had the platinum ice-blue Day Date in stock. Of course, I had to stop in & try it on...While a Day Date (currently) does not appeal to me simply because a 36mm watch is too small on my wrist, how often will I have the chance to put almost $50,000 on my wrist. Plus, I've been anxious to see that dial in person. So, first impression is it's far less blue in person. It really is about the color of blue ice, it has a transparency about it. Depending on how you look at it it's blueish-silver to almost a clear-steel (if that makes any sense). It has just a slight hint of blue. I really liked it. The pictures of it look very nice, but I've always thought they're a bit too blue for everyday wear. But not so in person The subtleness of the blue is so understated it's incredibly gorgeous.Of course the other thing you immediately notice is the weight of the watch. I had the Steel YM with platinum dial with me &

Hi all, it's been more or less one year I took interest in Patek and I was just thinking that I can't remember a single incoming thread about a WG 5712 or 5711, is there no love at all for those watches here? I must admit that even if the 5712G is a great watch it would come for me only after the SS and RG versions, I saw one in real but it was in the Patek Paris salon, and found the dial interesting but was not very impressed by it, but have heard that the slate dial, seems that they call it like that, in direct light has a beautiful shade of silver/grey.If there are any owners of the 5712G or 5711G, could you please post pic, I would love to see how the dial looks like in the wild, one of the most beautiful dials is IMO the 5712R, Jorge who posted a lot of pics of his posted some where the dial is brown, grey and even kind of blue, I even thought when I saw them that they were photoshopped, so would like to know and see what kind of shades the dial goes into.At the time when I was lo
I have a Nautilus and wear it nearly every day. It's a discontinued Comet 3710ImageUploadedByTapatalk1364703810.550203.jpgThere is so much love for the 5167 Aquanaut on the forum. I've been wondering...Is the Aquanaut better suited as a daily wearer than a (my) Nautilus? It seems more tool-like and less elegant than the Nautilus, and I don't mean this in a bad way. Quite the opposite when considering a daily wearer!Has anyone gone from a Nautilus as a daily timepiece to an Aquanaut, and not regretted it?BTW, I'm still saving for my 5980 grail, and just realized I'm closer than I thought. I remembered I have a collectible fountain pen I can sell! But that's a story for another time (and forum!)Thanks in advance for sharing your opinions...
