Hublot is launching its latest timepiece made in collaboration with its “brand ambassador,” Dwyane Wade. The Hublot Classic Fusion Dwyane Wade is the second limited-edition Hublot watch to carry the name of the NBA basketball star, and it includes an impressive storage option. Let’s take a look. The new Hublot Classic Fusion Dwyane Wade offers an elegant counterpoint to the sporty King Power ¡°D-Wade¡± launched in 2011, which incorporated a prominent red case and red dial accents. The new model features understated red and gold highlights in a 45-mm polished, black ceramic case. The Classic Fusion Dwyane Wade Offers red and gold accents in a polished black ceramic case. The dial features a prominent Dwyane Wade logo integrated into the counter at 3 o¡¯clock, and the printed Dwyane Wade signature at 6 o¡¯clock. I was interested in the new 42 ceramic as I¡¯m looking for a easy daily AP. Had some time to kill and stopped by the boutique today. While the overall weight makes it an easy piece to wear, the ceramic bezel did not have the vertical lines that the 44¡¯s have. It was a smooth finish. The one thing that I could not get past to put a deposit down was the strap. All other new AP rubber straps are all matte finished and pliable. This strap was stiffer than usual. (The best strap is on the titanium 44)But the biggest non starter was the shiny strap. It¡¯s like how a rubber strap gets after years of use. I had the 44 titanium out as well and the salesperson said she noticed it too. Here are some pics...And for the strap...
As some of you may have read on one of my previous posts, I recently acquired a Speedmaster Solar Impulse (HB-SIA). A beautiful and highly functional watch. But to my surprise, I noticed that the font on the date wheel, did not look anything like the pictures I had seen online. Not only that, I had read a comment in a popular watch blog about how nice it was that Omega had decided to use the same font on the date wheel as used everywhere else on the watch. Bam! That made me think that I might had a dud.(See first pic below, the 8 on the date is completely round, as opposed to the very angular numbers elsewhere on the watch.)I called Omega Customer Service to explain the situation, and at first, they basically thought I was nuts. HOW would Omega install the WRONG date wheel???? Impossible!!! After a heated conversation, and sending pictures of my watch vs the images on the Omega website, the service rep finally agreed to contact Bienne for their feedback. As I had hoped,
