The Volvo Ocean Race is undeniably the world¡¯s premier ocean race and one of the most demanding team sporting events in the world. Over the course of nine months, the teams will sail 39,270 nautical miles, crossing the globe’s most treacherous seas. IWC Schaffhausen will be the official timekeeper for the 2011-2012 edition. The 2011-12 race will start in the Spanish port of Alicante in October 2011 and finish in Galway, Ireland, in July 2012. The course will include stopovers in Cape Town (South Africa), Abu Dhabi (UAE), Sanya (China), Auckland (New Zealand), Itajai (Brazil), Miami (USA), Lisbon (Portugal) and Lorient (France). It is a unique blend of onshore glamor, offshore drama and physical endurance as teams battle the sea in a race where individual legs can stretch over 6000 nautical miles. The first race, known as the as the Whitbread Round the World Race, took place over 37 years ago and covered 31,250 nautical miles.IWC will present the 24-hour record prize per race leg,
Hey,I have a VE Gaz14 watch, with a 2426 movement. It was my first automatic, at the time of purchase and I had no clue regarding the movement. It runs fine and all, but I've noticed that the rotor doesn't rotate as freely as the one on my invicta (or my friend's swatch).Should I be concerned? Like I mentioned, it runs fine but can this be fixed by a local watch maker? There are no VE dealers or service shops in India, so the only option left for me is to have it shipped to the online retailer, which is going to be expensive and time consuming.Any info, regarding this would be great. Thanks
I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve...might be hard to sleep tonight. Fortunate to say I will be joining the AP family tomorrow.
I have and love my Ceramic Seamaster. I've convinced myself that I need a speedy but why? I don't need a chronograph. But damn I want one. Who has bought one and felt underwhelmed?
I've never had the classic hesalite speedy. I've had variations, but most did not stick. I knew this was necessary given where I'm at with watches, but I wasn't planning on it just yet.But I was there. And it's so nice. Sits perfect on the wrist. And yeah, something about the hesalite. Kind of enjoying having to wind it manually too.
