Rado R30940112 wrist watches news:
when did Rolex begin adding "ROLEX ROLEX" around the dial on the Sub? which version or model number were the first ones? How far back we must go to find a non-"ROLEX ROLEX" version?
So I go in to the big T today just for a bit of browsing. In the window they have an early 2000 preowned white dialed SS Daytona. I have to ask. How much is that Daytona in the window. The very pleasant saleslady opens the case and reads the price to me: Its 16,000.00. I said I'm sorry it sounded like you said 16,000.00. The smile slowly ran away from her face and she said, I did. Now I don't normally play with sales peoples emotions but I am interested in a Daytona so I ask, how flexible are you with this price. She calls the manager and he starts in with how rare it is yadda yadda yadda. I'll take 15K I smiled and said you do realize its 2009 not 2004, that ship has sailed buddy. He wasn't as amused as I was. So I walk across the hall to an actual AD and speak to that saleslady. Oh we don't have any now but we have been getting them pretty often, she says. The last one sat in the case for a month so we don't have a list anymore. They have one now and I'm the only one
I understand that this may fit better in the photography section (mods, feel free to move) - but I thought I would initially post here because there is a general interest in photography in the General Discussion Forums. In other words - we like to take pictures of watches...I generally took pictures outside and hoped for overcast days. Those typically produce the best even light in the great old outdoors. I even set up a large umbrella when I took "standard" pictures of the collection. Generally they turned out well - but the following example shows what happens even with careful planning:Even with some planning - reflections show and reflections happen! So, I ordered a cheapie lightbox off of the 'bay and finally set it up. I was immediately dismayed as I still had reflections. What the???? Then I looked at where the reflections were coming from and I found my answer. I was still trying to capitalize on ambient light - I headed to the dark basement and carefully controlled ligh
Why you ask? Well because its so rolex. Eventhough I cant see anything if I am looking at the dial at any angle other than 90 degrees. I like it because it so rolex. Eventhough it destroys the symmetry of the dial. Im glad its there. Its so rolex. I can see the minute counter much better now. Im glad rolex glues on a second piece of sapphire on another piece of sapphire. Its very rolex of them.
What is the wait? Years?
