This watch is such a great value. I've worn it almost every day for years and it still keeps on ticking. I work the night shift and most of us night workers sleep on our lunch break, in a totally darkened room, and this watch has been invaluable to me, letting me know the time via indiglo. Well today at my local bookstore, which just happens to be going out of business, I ordered the 2009 wrist watch annual. I can't wait to get it, I have briefly looked through the 2008 edition, only because my boss left it laying around.I'm pretty excited, $35.00 free shipping.

First Panerai - 01000?
I'm deep in the Panerai research after trying on a few on vacation earlier this week. I don't want to drop a lot on one (at least now), which is just as well because I really only prefer the plainest dial versions. I tried the Duo and a couple of others, including an auto, but I really want a manual wind version.I originally stumbled across the 00112 online, which seemed pretty perfect, though out of production now and it seems hard to find. So would the 01000 be a decent option in its stead? I guess my question is, of those two, which should I buy based on the long-term (I plan to keep what I acquire).What I haven't quite deciphered yet is the movement in the 01000.

Hi there, I'm a new member, I'm not a collector by any means but I did buy my father a GMT II for his 60th Birthday in 2005 I think its a 16710. I know a little bit about the sports watches but really not much compared to the wealth of knowledgeable members posts I have read on this forum.I had the good fortune of picking up a 116500LN recently from an AD. Its a long story as I wanted a BLNR but ended up with the Daytona. Now I have this watch which is gorgeous, It cost me a lot of money and I'm in too minds whether to keep it, I can't really afford to have a watch that expensive unless its going to appreciate in value. I am aware its worth more than what I paid for it. But what about in 10 years time when a new version comes out, will this watch plummet in price to below retail? I doubt very much I will ever wear the watch as its still in the box with tags. Should I keep this box in the safe untouched or sell it now before the next Daytona comes out?Thank you for your help.
