Rado R12636303 wrist watches news:
Really quick. Here is one of the coolest Sinn watches out there, and really rare at that. This is the 756 UTC Dialpal, which is the 757 UTCmodel without the rotating bezel. The Diapal name refers to a diamond palette system used instead of jewels between the gears. The system is so "slippery" that the movement needs no oil to lubricate these areas. The whole idea beyond just looking cool is to allow the watch to go much longer between servicing. This watch retails for over $3,000 and is basically impossible to get in a lot of situations. The one pictured is available on eBay right now, as is at about $900 at the time of writing. Anything up to $3,500 is going to be worth it for this amazing piece of watch technology.I discussed Sinn Diapal watches more here.Inside is a modified automatic Valjoux 7750 movement. In addition to the Diapal system, the seconds dial has been removed and a GMT hand has been added. The Diapal version has a different colored dial than the standard 756 watch wit
HiA few weeks ago I picked up a Benrus for $3. It had the stem rusted to the movement and case. I was going to use it for servicing practice. Thanks to help from members here I manged to get the rusted stem out, find a movement and a replacement stem and fit the new stem. I then partially disassembled the movement(I'm new at this), did some oiling and cleaning and now the watch runs fine. In the future I plan to take a crack at cleaning the dial. BTW, if you clean a metal dial in a Ultrasonic cleaner it will come out clean as a whistle. It will also remove all the numbers and the minute track. Thanks all for helping me get this good looking watch back to keeping time. Here are some photos.Tony
So I just moved and I came across my Grandfather's pocket watch that I've had since I could remember. It runs (after being wound and shaking it to get it started) and actually keeps good time too. There are 2 main problems though: the crystal is completely gone, and you can't set the time from the crown. The display (I don't know the proper term) is also somewhat damaged but I'd like to keep it anyways since it's the original. It's an old gold Waltham with a 21 jewel movementwatch.jpgThis one is from an ebay auction but it's very similar. The only difference is the pattern on the body.my questions are: how can I dissasemble it myself? It appears to be a screw top and back, but with no notches to grab it. And where do I find a replacement crystal?
I have liked Longines as a brand for a while, but recently I have seen a few models that make me think that I could (almost) have a collection of just Longines watches! For my 30th my wife bought me a Longines DolceVitaI have enjoyed this watch for a while now and it has been my dress watch. For my 40th I decided to get another nice watch, and decided that it should be the Longines Master Moon Phase from the Longines Master Collection for my 40th (a bit of a theme here!)The recent thread by Dennis made me go back and have a look at some more of the Heritage collection. And, of course, I found one that really caught my eye. This is a really nice dress watch, IMO. I know that some don't think a dress watch should have any complications, but I think that the chrono complication doesn't take anything away from it but makes it look a bit more interesting.Looking further I found the Admiral Collection. I think the brown dial would look good on a brown croc strap with contrast stitching. These lo
