Hamilton 987 series interchangeable parts?
I have a 987 movement with a bad staff. My skills haven't evolved to the point of replacing the staff.I'm looking to buy a replacement balance so my question is whether or not the entire 987 series usesthe same balance or did the pivot and jewel size change over the 20 some years. I believe the 987F and 987Ehad a change in jeweling but I don't know that the size was different.If someone has successfully married a later balance to a 987 could they share their experience?Dan

My journey to Globemaster
Looking back, I guess it began with this Connie I owned from 1963:That pie-pan dial was forever etched on my heart.Last year I was searching for a dress watch and after trying to love two 8500 ATs, I was looking for something a bit thinner with a classic look. The introduction of the Globemaster looked like a possibility. A test drive of the SS model at the OB proved disappointing however. The blue dial was nice but from experience, I knew I would tire of it. Plus, I had never cared for the AT bracelet so the GM bracelet sealed my decision to go with the strap. (My GM was not intended for casual wear anyway and I prefer straps for dress.) Admittedly the fluted bezel was a surprise but I was disappointed in the tungsten carbide. There was no pop, just blah. So I put the Globemaster on the back burner to simmer. Earlier this year when the GM was no longer exclusive to the boutiques, I revisted the Omega website and took a look at all the models. The all gold and platinum models were off

Should I buy it or not?
I entered the Rolex ¡°world¡± only a couple of months ago and since then I¡¯ve been addicted! By no means I¡¯m an expert but I learned a lot about Rolex, luxury watches and it¡¯s balue...... thanks to TRF sand its membersMy 14 year old boy picked the habit from me and can tell movements in different Rolex models, knows the ¡°lingo¡± and has been obsessed with RolexHe was with me over the weekend at the AD when I picked up my LVc and was mesmerized by the YM40 Blue dial.I¡¯m thinking of buying it for him (without telling him) to give it to him for his graduation 1- before prices go up2- before it gets discontinued (possibly)I raise my kids to earn what they get and appreciate what they have, not to get thing easily but this time I¡¯m so tempted to get it even though my wife thinks this is ¡°spoiling¡±. He is a very responsible young man and no where near spoiled!What would you guys do? Get it or let him work and Buy his first Rolex with his own money?
