- this ring doesn't look real and therefore the color/brillence takes away from being a great watch - looks fake. Friends saw it and said the same thing - going back.

While "watchmaking" and "Switzerland" are at times considered to be synonymous – at least by the general public – watch aficionados are astutely aware of the rich manufacturing heritage beyond the Swiss border, in places like Germany, Britain, and Japan. A couple of months back, a few members of the HODINKEE team had the opportunity to pay a comprehensive visit to the latter, where we were given access to two of Seiko's manufacturing facilities, as well as the Seiko Museum. In this, the latest installment of our "Inside the Manufacture" series, we take a look at the watchmakers and processes behind the broad range of Seiko offerings, including mechanical, quartz, Astron GPS Solar, and Spring Drive models. From Tokyo to the northern city of Morioka and back south to Shiojiri, we crisscrossed the island nation, covering some 500 miles by high-speed train over the course of a week. A friend stopped by with a box of mostly junk, however, he did have a couple of curiosities. This is one; it's a Seiko DX, 17 Jewel automatic and it works, sort of.What makes it odd to me is the case and the crystal. The case instead of being just round extends outward to the hidden lug look. The crystal is faceted. Nine faces and I've not seen that on any Seiko before. The crystal also seems to have a metal open plate with markers at the 12-3-6 and 9 positions which cover the lumed markers on the face. The man worked for Xerox in the 70's and says he bought the watch new at a jewelers in the early to mid 70's, sounds about right, and that it came that way and it was why he bought it. He was always breaking watches and this was the heaviest watch he could find. By heavy, he means the crystal must be 10mm thick or at least it feels like it. The numbers on the back are 6106-7589, on the face it's Japan 6106-7939T, the date code is 4N5419.Any ideas if it is stock or modified?
I currently have two Titanium Automatic Breitling Chrono Avengers e13360, one of which has significant bracelet stretch. I would like to get a replacement bracelet, the original or the the ProII would be fine. I have been unable to find an 880e. Are any of the following compatible?888e130e133eI would appreciate any info on which titanium bracelets will fit, or any other suggestions that may help.Cheers.
Anyone knows if this guy¡¯s claim is of any value (regarding the on-purpose fading from Rolex)?¡¯m asking because my A serial from 2000 has got the exact same faded bezel insert as the one we see on these pictures. I bought the watch from the original owner, who rarely wore it in over 15 years, and I thought it was odd that the red portion of the bezel has faded so much while the blue part remained crisp and dark. Cheers Nick
