Romain Jerome RJ.M.CH.DE.001.01 wrist watches news:
I don't know how many times I've admitted this, but I dream of being a vintage Audemars Piguet collector. The watches are so rare, so beautiful, so special, and until recently, completely under the radar. Now they are getting a little more attention – and a great triple calendar chronograph just sold for serious money at Christie's Geneva – but that doesn't mean the world at large has taken notice. And that is why I am writing this article today. A truly world-class watch is coming up for sale next week, and I want to make sure the collecting world at large takes note. It's an Audemars Piguet, from the 1950s, with a full perpetual calendar, two-tone dial, and leap year indicator. It is one of nine ever made, and it just might be the best watch for sale this season. 1 OF 6 Reference 5516 was made in nine examples, six of which feature the moonphase at 6 o'clock. What makes the 5516 so special? First, the rarity. The watch was made i
I’m starting to seriously look around at another “nice” watch, and have pretty much narrowed it down to a Breitling (Super Ocean, Avenger, etc) or an Omega. The Omegas I’m looking at are the 45mm Seamaster PO, Speedmaster, and the watch I gave away, my Bond Seamaster.Anyway, I’m a big, big fan of sapphire crystals The one on the Omega I had and the one on my Oris truly seem indestructible. They’ve been put through Hell, and nary a scratch. Now, it’s always been my understanding that the Speedmaster did not come with a sapphire crystal, and that scratching was something of an issue. Lately, though, through my searches, I’m seeing Speedmasters advertised (all in the “pre-owned” market) with sapphire crystals, so I’m a bit confused.Has Omega started doing that? Are these crystals retrofits? If so, how would that affect resale value (just want to make sure I’m not paying too much)? Any issues with watertight integrity?O
I have been on a bit of a quest lately and I thought I'd share what I had learned with everyone. It has been fun and interesting looking into a style of watches that until recently I never knew existed. The BeginningWhat started all of this for me was this post by RJ007 of this Longines:
Alright guys since James Bond started to wear the Omega Seamaster in Goldeneye I have always wanted that watch. I remember back in 97 the Automatic version was in the $1,500-2,000 range. Now its up to $3,800, inflation sucks!!I work at American Airlines as a Supervisor, very happy with my job absolutely love it. I'm sure most of you have read the news that we filed for Ch11. However, I assure you American is not going anywhere. Just like Delta, United, US Airways (twice), Continental (three times) they have all filed and emerged stronger. (Not gonna get into the pension losses and all that jazz from all the airlines ) Unlike many here who are Doctors, lawyers, etc. I do not earn that high of an income, however I do live very comfortably. No wife, no kids, no mortgage I kind of live the life of a Pilot. I am always traveling managing my 10 Southwest Region cities in the Customer Service Field, hardly ever home.I have lurked these forums for years now, I joined in 2010 and had the pleas
Hi Everyone,As everyone saw last week, it turned out that my prized Pie Pan Connie was a Franken/Fake. I was totally pissed off as well as surprised, as I had bought from this dealer before with no problems. You can't imagine the feeling of being told your watch was not real on an online forum, but I am glad it happened. Thanks to loveomega & mamas for pointing it out as well as sending me information to back up their opinions which ended up being fact.I also sent the image to Desmond, who also was refered by the mamas. He also agreed with everything too.I got an answer back from the dealer, and like I posted on that thread that found the watch was not real, the dealer was a stand up guy. He said please send it back and he could either refund my money of swap it out for another watch. This was after two years. He told me he looked at the image as well, and was upset as he let it get by him as well, as he would never of sold it knowing it was a franken watch. I say mistakes can happen.
