Blue Dial for a Blue Sky Monday...
My wife's grandfather left us his fathers Hamilton 927, hunter. Both the dial and the movement say 'Lincoln' then Hamilton Watch Co. It doesn't look like a private label but the only mention at all I can find says that 'Lincoln" should be worth $100-125 more. I am not selling the watch but would really like to know more about what Lincoln is, so that when my grandson gets this pocket watch, he'll know what it means. Acutually, my whole interest in pocket watches stems from receiving my great grandfathers model 935, hunter, in a 14K gold case. I initially disregarded the watch and nobody even heard of a watch made by Dillon, Wheat and Hancher. After I got hooked on the Internet I began researching and finally figured out that I had a private label Hamilton. It was sold at a big jewelry store by that name in Wheeling, West Virginia near where my great grandma and grandpa got married. They exchanged watches. My mom has the 14K Lady Waltham he gave her. I've spent hours reserching the
Sorry so long here, but.....I've known of this watch (my grandfather's then my father's) and just received it from my father. Kinda gave me a queasy feeling, but I want to preserve it properly for generations to comeMy grandfather got it as a gift from a patient's family in late 1950's or early 60's. Yellow gold, silver dial, with medical cronograph (pulsometer). Graded for 15 pulses, it has round buttons. I've always admired the watch and I am somewhat of a watch guy, but never thought I'd get this until maybe later in life (I'm 42 now). I'm looking for a reference number. I have also original correspondence papers from Patek Philippe from service/cleaning, and dial replacement in 1979. There is no model reference number though. I am likely going to extract from their archives asap. I'll try to figure out how to post a photo if it may help. THANKS for any help or advice in advance. I just want to educate myself about the watch itself in addition to the story behind it joinin
