ETA to Cease Making Movements for Outside Watch Makers
Watch forums are a buzz over the fact that ETA will be halting all sales of it's movements to outside watch makers in 2010. ETA is a quasi government-owned company that designs and manufactures watch movements. Some of these go directly to its brands (such as Swatch), others are made in kit form and are sold to outside makers who place the movements in their own watches. The majority of decent automatic movements not made "in-house" by a manufacture, are ETAs. ETA also makes quartz movements.The creation of a new movement is a very complex and difficult task. Various Omega series, movements, and where to buy
I have narrowed down my decision for a new watch to three models, two of which are in the Omega line. Is there any difference in the various series produced? For example, one watch is in the "Special Edition Michael Schumacher The Legend Series." Does this have any value at all in the quality of the watch or its collect-ability? How about questions on movements? Is there a source that not only tells what movement for what model, but also the pros and cons of each movement?Finally, all the brick-n-mortar AD are well over an hour away, and the online prices actually allow me to consider the Omega. I have viewed the sponsor list without a lot of success. Can you recommend online trusted dealers of the Omega brand? PM me if you think that more appropriate.Thanks!

Universal Geneve debuts
My little tuning fork collection has expanded beyond Bulova and my buttons are busting a little, I introduce Universal Geneve Unisonic. It is my understanding that this is a Swiss made watch containing a license made or company worked on Accutron 218 movement. It is in very nice condition and I would guess that it dates from the early seventies. If anyone knows more about it I would love to hear it.

I've been a diehard Daytona guy for over 20 years and still love them. I have every Daytona I've ever purchased (always new from an AD) save for a yellow gold / croc strap which I traded out of last fall. I got the itch/bug or impulse to finally step up to an Audemars after eyeing them in Europe (never have seen an American wearing an Audemars here or there) and when I first started wearing the 41mm Chrono last fall, it wore REALLY big and all the shiny bits only made it seem bigger. It is very comfortable and I LOVE the look of it. The blue face on mine, REALLY sets it off and that is what seems to catch some people's eye. I got another very special Audemars while I was still weak and still in love. Now, carrying the watch bug in me, I started looking at the PP and found 5167a from an AD in FL and scooped it up straight away. Man, it wears SMALL compared tot he 41mm Chrono! It's very light, thin and so practical, especially with the rubber band, it's now my EVERYDAY wear (I don't wor
