I can't believe I'm as excited to get my winders as I am to get my watches!
I am not superstitious, but hate to tempt fate anyway, just in case. But, I'll break my rule for this occasion.I have two Orbita single watch winders that are scheduled to be delivered by Fed Ex tomorrow (well, I guess today, since it's after midnight.)Funny thing is, I only have one automatic watch right now, but have two others on the way that are scheduled to arrive after the winders. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to rotate which watches are on the winders, pick one to manually wind on a regular basis or the best option (but most expensive), which would be to order another winder. I know the Hamilton with the day and date will be on a winder whenever it's not on my wrist since it has more to set if it stops, and the other two have just the date. Obviously if I only had three watches, I'd only need two winders, since one or the other of the autos would be worn every day, but I have a few quartz watches and a few manual wind watches that I like well enough that they will cont

First I would like to thank Jacques Degreef otherwise I could not share those pics. It was the first time in my life I saw a Patek 10 days tourbillon. This was already a good feeling. I can't describe how it felt when I was allowed to 'play' with it between 10.00 and 11.30 this morning.Those pics are the best I could do but believe me, this watch gives you shivers.I could always sell my house and buy this watch but I have a strange feeling my girlfriend would not like the idea LOLSo I better stop dreaming. Such a piece will always be out of my league.BUT, if you really like the looks and want something similar (without the 10 days power reserve and ofcourse without the tourbillon) you can always try the 5124.At the fraction of the price you get a very good looking dress watch.

What constitutes "vintage"?
Hello everyone here at TRF! Lately I've been reading a lot about the high costs and lengthy service times that accompany a Patek timepiece. Although costly and requiring an exorbitant amount of time to service no matter what, there seems to be and even more significant commitment when dealing with a timepiece that is considered vintage. In one instance, I remember reading someone with a vintage piece being told to expect a 4 year turn-around and a five-figure bill when all was said and done. Ouch!So, my question becomes when does a watch become vintage and therefore subject to these. higher servicing costs? Is it merely a matter of age (i.e. Pieces older than 20, 30, etc. years)? Is it a function of whether the piece remains in production? Or is it something else entirely?Obviously these types of things factor into my decision to keep my pieces or perhaps trade them at some point down the line. What to add to my collection?
Hi there, Collection is a little over stated, but we all start with just a few I have:1. SUBc Date Black2. GMT BLNR3. SUB LVcAny suggestions what would be a good addition to these? I haven't looked into DJs. I've always liked the Explorer I and II though. The I is very classy and versatile, maybe too boring? And another black dial. The Ex II Polar seems cool but not sure if I like the 42mm case, looks kinda bloated. The previous model (40mm) also cool, even in black but I'm so used to the solidness and feel of the newer references, I'm afraid it would feel flimsy in comparison.Any advice is welcome and appreciated, thanks!
