Compared to the flurry of watchbuying activity last year, this year has been relatively calm. I've focused on picking up just a few that I really wanted. This one completes my collection of the 'easy to find' Elgin Durabalance models. Beyond this, there's the BW Raymonds that usually go for $200, and the military 804 and 805 models that I've seen go for as much ad $565. This is a 750, 23J Durabalance model, in a case and dial I've not seen before.This one is another 'collection completer' - the last of the goldfilled Horizon Look models that I know of. Again, the next step is much more expensive - the solid gold ones. This was called the 'Continental', and I was lucky enough to get it with a 730, 23J Durabalance movement (it also came with the 718 pre-db). Needs a new crystal, and I happen to have one...Also, just for fun, I picked up a Lady Elgin - it's the lady's model of the Horizon Look, and a match for the 'Celestial' I've posted before.Then there's this one. A little fun
I can't resist a good cause, and this was from the Goodwill website. It keeps time second for second with my Breitling so that's COSC specs even though it's in obvious need of a service. You can see a discoloration where the serial number is which my watchmaker thinks should be easy to remove. I've been noticing a few pocketwatches and stopwatches that caught my fancy so I said why not? I wound it fully at 1:00 this afternoon to check the reserve. I'm digging the blued hands, and the audible tick.

Just got my Omega PloProf
OK so I just noticed something very disturbing about myself, it seems the more I hate a watch the very first time I see it the more likely I will fall in love :roll: Hated Panerai==> obsessed with PaneraiHated Bell&Ross==> Had to get a Bell&RossHated the IWC BI Bracelet==> Had to get the BraceletAnd to add the list, I disliked the Omega PloProf, thought it was interesting but just could not pull the trigger as I thought I would never wear it. The OFFICIAL GMT-Master II 16710 - 3186 Owners Club!
Hi all,I'm proud to be an owner of a 16710 - 3186. Some argue they would prefer the more reliable 3185 movement. Others say they wouldnt pay a premium. Nobody really knows how many 16710's were fitted with the 3186 caliber as Rolex doesn't release production numbers. I'm not an expert, but my advice would be to hold on to these if you have one. The last 10 years have proven this is a collectible timepiece, and only going to raise in value!I've read that this combo was introduced as early as serial numbers starting with Z6xx. Let's compose our own database. I'm curious to know:- The letter and as much of the serial number you feel comfortable sharing.- Is the 2 in GMT-Master a Roman numeral/stick/rectangular?- Country of origin. - Is your original warranty a credit card?So to all owner's of the 16710 - 3186, past and present, post your pictures!Here is my M3xx/rectangular/US/Credit card on my newly acquired jubilee.
