Before and after using polyWatch
I was taking a picture of my Benrus Wristalarm for today's WRUW and the photo revealed what I already knew. I had done a terrible job of removing scratches from this crystal. This is the photo I took. As you can see, I left a lot of the sand marks in the crystal and they are reflected onto the dial.Now here's an after shot, at almost the same angle and all I could find was a small spot I missed between 10 and 11 o'clock.At first, I wasn't impressed with polyWatch. I'd put a few drops on the watch, and buff it with a cloth. The results were underwhelming.Then I tried buffing the watch a different way. I placed my cloth on a table, put a drop or two on the cloth, then the crystal and vigorously rubbed the crystal side to side(versus circular patterns) with copious amounts of elbow grease (I held the cloth taut with my other hand). Accidental (read stupid) eBay buy of the day
I was looking on eBay (I'm an eBay newbie) at watches the other day, when I came across a couple of auctions for an Accutron Gemini 64C100 with the 7750 Valjoux movement. Like a cat enthralled by a laser dot on the wall, as soon as I saw Valjoux, I was transfixed on the watch. Several of the auctions had outrageous prices, but one, which was ending in an hour was relatively cheaparound a $150 cheaper than Amazon. Oh, what the heck I thought, at that price, I'll put a few bids in. Every time I would put a bid in, as soon as I hit the bid button, I would see a pop up screen saying "You've been outbid." After a couple of bids, I figured it was an automated bid bot. I was annoyed. How dare they cheat like that!!!!"I'll fix them, said my brilliant self, I'll bid them up for just cause."
