- i received this last week, good piece , elegant and classy. I was expecting the whie ceramic to stand out a little more, but the band is of alternate steel and ceramic links so cannot be called a white ceramic piece- still looks good for the price- dial embezel is stunning. may not be able to use on daily basis as it too heavy on the wrist.

Seiko SSC299 wrist watches news:
I'll start even though it isn't Thursday here on the East Coast yet. (if Andy can do it so can I )
I am interested in understanding how today's price increase by the manufacture on the 5712/1A timepiece will affect collectors' continued interest in that piece relative to other comparable options and have created a poll to help solicit some views on that.
Please forgive me for beginning this thread before owning the watch. Since seeing it in real life on Friday, it has become a must have. In my search for a precious metal watch - and believe me, I have explored all options - this Gondolo is now at the top of my list.Having long been an admirer of Patek Philippe, and having actually tried on a couple of models, I have never found one that really has enough versatility for my lifestyle. It would be an injustice to the brand for me to acquire a Patek Philippe mainly for the purpose of being able to say that I own one. Perhaps there will be others after I acquire this one, which should occur within the next few months. For some reason, I really want a rectangular shape for what may be my only precious metal watch. There are not many reviews, comments or posts online in reference to the Gondolo, and I was a bit underwhelmed by many of the photos I saw. That was before I saw this beauty in the display window of the AD here in Vancouver. These
First, a very big thank you to the many who graciously entertained my incessant questions. I heeded the advice of some, and not of others. In the end, I went with what ticked all my boxes in this crazy passion. I've come to realize that what makes sense to some doesn't to others. And, what makes the best investment or has the best downside protection doesn't always equal what we want. Here are the boxes I wanted to tick:Platinum - I wanted platinum. If I got any other metal, I know, for me, I would continue to want a platinum Patek, so I would not have scratched my itch. Mind you, this is to take NOTHING away from any other PM or SS Patek. There are so many beautiful options, which in itself makes this a difficult task when funds are not unlimited.New - as much as I tried, I couldn't buy a used watch at this level. I wanted to break the seal and be the first. So, I worked hard to find a good deal, and I got very lucky. Timing is everything.Perpetual Calendar - I didn't want just a Chon
Figured I¡¯d pass on the news. My AD said this AM that Rolex has informed them that they will not be receiving any professional line SS watches as regular stock for the time being. She said if they want a professional model it will need to be paid for before Rolex will ship. They also told them that there will be no price increase this year. I¡¯m convicted that with so much different info flying around that there is obviously change coming. My thought is that they are waiting for Basel and all the professional line will be receiving a new movement. This is the only thing that makes sense to me as to why they are making retailers lose money. Where there is smoke there is fire. Passing along what I heard and my opinion.
