Event Recap: Welcoming Nomos To The United States In NYC
Last night, we at HODINKEE, along with our friends at Wempe Jewelers on Fifth Avenue, welcomed the entire NOMOS Glashutte management team, as well as over 200 watch lovers to a downtown NYC gallery space to celebrate the *official* launch of NOMOS in the United States.Now many of you may be thinking "hey, but NOMOS has been available here and there for over a year!" and that's true. NOMOS has been sold at Wempe, and more recently at Tourneau for a little while now, but last night marked the Glashutte manufacture's official jump to the US. Russian Chaika Movement
I've been digging through some old watches I've had for years in the hopes of identifying some of the older ones and came across a woman's Cardinal from the mid-sixties. I popped the case back and found a tiny Russian made Chaika 1601A movement inside. Was this rare? I've done some searching and cannot find a single instance of Cardinal (or anyone else) using Russian movements in their watches.The case is also stamped AU with no number behind it. Does this mean it's plated. I thought normally a number was stamped behind the AU symbol to indicate thickness of the plating.

Which to keep? Help me decide . .
I can't afford to hold on to all 3 for long term . . . (I mean I could but it would take me a bit to pay off the extra watch which is always a bad idea) . . . so 1 of these 3 has to go:16700 pepsi GMT16570 polar Explorer 2114060 no date SubCI picked up a 16700 with the intentions of selling my Sub but am now thinking perhaps the 16570 polar should go instead. The subC is miles ahead in build quality over the other 2. The one I'm least likely to sell is the GMT. My only other watch is a blue Bond Omega quartz. I know, I have a thing for dive watches. Which would you get rid of if you had to choose? And since everyone loves pictures . . .
