Here's my first shot with my homemade light box, inspired by the ebook Macro watch photography by John B. Holbrook. Thank you John!I think it went very well :)
I have been enjoying a new Accutron VX200 Diver for the past several days and thought I would do a review.Size and heft: This is a 43mm dial with a large, easy-to-grasp crown with the Accutron tuning fork logo etched on it. It has a substantial feel and heft but not so heavy that it is an effort to wear.Dial: The dial is done in a matte black finish. It is easy to read. The red and black unidirectional bezel is done in the same matte finish. I don't know what the lume material is, but it glows like a flashlight. I suspect Super-luminova but I don't know that for a fact. Even the logo at the 12 o'clock position glows brightly. The second hand is black with a sporty red tip with the tuning fork logo at the opposite end. The date is at the 3 o'clock position absent a cyclops. SWISS MADE is at the 6 o'clock position. Sapphire crystals front and back.Movement: An ETA 2824-2 powers the watch. It is smoooooth. This is my first ETA time piece. I haven't checked the accuracy since
A new (to me) Baume & Mercier Classima Executives XL Chrono. It has a great classic look to it, a lovely clean dial with an interesting texture to it. I am a sucker for white dials, and this one just look fabulous to me. Not having a tachymeter scal really makes this dial look nice and large without having to have a huge watch, and also contributes to the clean look. Also not having the seconds hand removes one of the subdials from the Valjoux 7750 movement - if you need seconds just start the chrono! The case size is also just in my sweet spot for a dress watch at 42mm. The strap is a rich dark brown on a deplyant signed clasp at a nice width of 22mm to match the good size of the watch. I might get a black strap to try on it as I already have a brown strap in my lineup but need a black strap and it might look good on this watch. So, on with the unboxing!I had to enjoy the process, so why not coffee and cake whilst doing so!!? And some shots from the seller, who shows it off very we
Hello all,Medium term lurker and first time poster! I find myself in a bit of a quandry and was keen to gauge some general opinion by calling upon the collective wisdom of the forum.I currently have a stainless/yellow gold bimetal daytona (ref 116523, black dial) which I purchased a month or so ago with a view to it being a daily wear (work in an office, wear a suit). To be honest I rushed into the purchase and have found I don't love the watch, mainly due to the bimetal aspect - I find it lacks a bit of versatility, and is perhaps too flash for everday work wear (meeting clients), and not flashy enough to be really special that only comes out a couple of times a month.....As such I have decided to trade it for a stainless daily wearer, and then save up for something else for weekend wear/special occasions (something in Rose Gold or White Gold, love the Daytona ref 116515 LN).My initial thought process was simply trade it for a stainless Daytona. This won't really cost me anything and I
Well looks like another BLNR to add to this Friday's announcements. Thanks to Patrick(OCRROLEXGUY) for a great trade. Love the touch of color coming from my Polar Exp II.
