Hello fellow WTF WIS! Just a small announcement today: we have a new feature in the programming here. If a moderator moves one of your threads, you will now receive a PM indicating what thread it was and where it was moved to. I just wanted to let you know that the system uses screen names only so don't feel it's coldly impersonal if your first name isn't used like in most direct one-on-one correspondence via the PM system. Thanks!
Greetings all,I wanted to share one of my latest acquisitions from my wife's grandfather's watch collection. It is a MIMO German Military Issue watch. I can't find very much information on it, but from what i've gathered, Mimo is a swiss company that bought the majority stock in Girard Perregeaux sometime in the 1930's. Between 1940 and 1942, these MIMO Anti-Magnetic watches (for use in and around tanks i assume) were issued to Nazi soldiers. At the conclusion of the war, MIMO ordered for all service pieces to be destroyed, with numerous reports saying that many were. I don't know how many of this model survived, but my online searches have only revealed two others. Regardless of it's rarity or value, i think it's a great piece of history, and regret that i never got to find out how it was that my wife's grandfather came to own it. I'm sure that's an interesting story as well. I've got a nice olive NATO strap on the way for it to give it that military look, and i intend on wearing it f
Hi everyone, I'm trying to get some advise. I'm seriously considering trading or selling either my Yellow dial Emergency or my Navitimer towards a Pam 24. In your opinion, which one should I keep? Which one is more of a 'keeper' I find myself hardly wearing either watch. Look forward to the opinions of the members. I want to choose 'wisely' and don't want to regret getting rid of either watch. Thanks,
What do you guys think of it? Worth the premium over the current iwc aquatimer on rubber strap?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So I was talking to a watch buddy of mine. I own an Speedy and a Mark 18 that I wear almost anywhere with no issue. My Rolex Milgauss however, I do hesitant wearing it out to work meetings or to certain functions. Now don't get me wrong, I love wearing it. I just feel a bit self conscious in certain situations. Such as wearing it to visit my customers. Even though I'm driving a Honda Accord and I know many who drive 5 series or Lexus's that cost way more than my watch. Also they do not hold their value like my watches either.I'm not sure if I'm the only one who feels this way? Just wanted to hear others thoughts on the subject.
