Thor redial dilemma
I bought this white Thor last month with the plan to have the poor silver dial re-done as black. (I knowblasphamy.) Well, I finally got around to stripping it and cleaning the dial todayand it cleaned up beautifully. With this in mind, I'd love to hear everyone's opinionbut I am now leaning on keeping it original as it is. (I figure I can always redo it, but I can't ever again make it original.) Actually, after looking around, I also am beginning to wonder if the black dial might actually be more common on the WGF Thor than silver? And if so, perhaps most of them are redials also? Any opinions?On a funny note, when I bought it I also thought that the dial was missing the #8but upon arrival it was there but merely hidden in the tarnish. This was an interesting auction:cgi.ebay/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ht_6232wt_1167It's a very nice watch, probably from the 60's or early 70's with a caliber 885. I track as many of these as I can on eBay because I own the predecessor to this watch. What's interesting is that up until recently these usually sold for $750 - $900 and the average selling price was in the low $800 range. Vintagehamiltons and I watched one many months ago sell for in this neighborhood also. However, this is the 2nd one in the last few months to sell for over $1000. This one is nearly pristine, and if you look at the pictures the black dot near the 3:00 indice is obviously on the crystal and not the dial - you can tell by how it seems to change locations at different angles in the pictures. The last one was an obvious redial (we discussed it back in the summer) and sold for $1100. Granted, gold has increased so that's some of the reason. Greetings all.I've got $200 (could go up to $250) burning a hole in my pocket and want a new diver and/or chronograph style watch. I've been looking heavily at the Invicta 9937OB.I'm looking for something with a metal bracelet instead of a rubber band, and I'm partial to Automatics though I haven't completely ruled out a quartz movement.But what do you guys recommend?Ready..Set..Go!!!
