My first Rolex approaches 11 years old...
As I approach the turn of 2009, I look into my safe and see my first Rolex (White Explorer II),.. dejected, staring out from the corner. 11 years ago, I marked the occasion of a wonderful promotion with the splurge of my lifetime: A quality timepiece. I had previously inherited my grandfathers Girard-Perregaux and my fathers Elgin. I have respect for the men that wore these watches, and I really liked the idea that one day I'd leave my son my Rolex. 11 years later, the old ExpII just doesn't do it for me anymore. It's a little rough around the edges, sure, but I'm also tired of the watch itself. Perhaps it¡¯s the white dial. I danced with a few other brands over the last year and chipped the crystal in a matter of weeks (the Rolex crystal looks perfect after 11 years). Finally, I bit the bullet and bought a GMTII on the grey for a very good deal.The GMT purchase was not nearly as pleasurable as the ExpII. I was worried about the authenticity. Starting up an old Omega Skeleton
Hello Watch Talk member,I just received my first ever vintage watch. It's a 1906 modified Omega skeleton converted to a wristwatch. I know it's not "original" but just fell it love with the way it looks. What I'm wondering is about getting the watch started. It has been explained to me that the older watches should never be wound too tightly. Of course, it's not running right now since I just got it out of the shipping box. It winds ("ratchets") very easily counterclockwise but there seems to be substantial resistance if I try to move the crown clockwise. I can tell that I only need to pull the knob out to set it, but am wondering what I need to do to get it running.I sent an email to the seller, but since it's late in the day, I may not hear back from him this evening. I would love to have this running and on my wrist tonight. Any recommendations regarding this watch from some of you old pro's would be very helpful for this newbie. Thanks very much!

3rd year warranty sticker
Hi,Just wondering if anyone has experience in registering for the 3rd year warranty sticker from AP through their website and approximately how long it took to receive the sticker (I am located in Canada).I registered my ROC 2 weeks ago and haven't received any updates since, so not sure if it's en route or if I need to follow up. It could also just be me being impatient, as waiting for stuff to arrive is not one of my strengths Would be appreciated if others can let me know approximately how long I should wait before following up, and who I may be able to follow up with.Cheers,James
