Rolex service has serviced my Rolexes for over 20-25 years. They have done both mechanical and quartz. Recently picked up a nice OQ with a grey tapistry dial. It was original Rolex from the factory. Date of manufacturer was 1990. A little past midway in their production of all Oysterquartz. They only did roughly 1000 OysterQuartz of all models per year. But as I always do after purchasing pre-owned, I took it to the Wynn's Rolex oyster boutique on the Las Vegas strip. After about 3 weeks, on Friday received a call from the Rolex trained and certified watchmaker at the boutique. He had sent it to RWSC Dallas for inspection. They advised that sometime in the past it had a water leak which had marred the dial between the 5 and 10 minute markers. Ouch. Their watchmaker in town said RWSC Dallas recommended a complete overhaul plus dial replacement. That was the only way Rolex would guarantee service. Well the only dial choices are, champaign, white, black and blue. He recommended against
I've got an Opposition I bought about 10 years ago and have gotten a lot of great service out of it and wonder if I'm the only one who likes them, as I can't seem to find much information on them.Got mine at Best Watch in Shinjuku after going up and down the stairs to all the various floors and kept going back to look at it for about a week before deciding to pick it up.I'd really like to pick up a chronograph version someday if the opportunity presents itself...
First off, let me explain that I'm not a current collector of pocketwatches, but I do like them nonetheless. I'm primarily a vintage Accutron collector, but have a soft spot for vintage Bulovas and a few others. I currently own two Railroad Approved Accutrons (both tuning fork models from the 60's) and love the dial style, and the fact that the Accutron was the first RR Approved wristwatch. I've read the book about Ball watches and the connection to RR approved, and am fascinated by it. My purpose here, is to learn a bit, and acquire a RR approved pocketwatch to go along with my Accutron models. I need to reread the Ball book and do some research for the basics, but I'm intending to try and source a model that has a nice, quality, RR working movement (serviced is good obviously) with a case that is typical of someone who used it, i.e., not a fancy gold model. I'd appreciate any assistance, and if anyone knows of a source that has anything like this in stock currently, please fee
