bought my dream watch: Benrus Sky Chief
I've been a lurker here, but I just pulled the trigger on my dream watch...a Benrus Sky Chief with Valjoux 72 movement. An Ebay acquisition. Here are pictures in its current state:more photos at this album:https://picasaweb.google/1098294...eat=directlinkI intend to have Jesse at JHFineWatches do the restoration. Fortunately the watch and chronograph functions work fine and the face is not flaking at all. I look forward to a new crystal, case polish, relume the hour and minute hands, and freshen the other hands. I don't intend to mess with the numbers. I will post 'after' pictures in 2 months.This forum has been so helpful to me...thank you all! My daily watch is a Tissot PRC200 with leather strap. I AM a sucker for black dial chronographs!Ken.

Walking by an AD in the mall today, spotted this one and once it was on my wrist, I just couldn't take it off. Among other things, it has the easiest deployant strap I've yet used - just push two little tabs and it opens, rather than having to get your finger between the strap and the hinge and press. It's out in the sun now being fully charged - it needs a full reset because the dealer had set the hour, minute and second hands 1/4 movement off. I think it's handsome. Comments?

To AD...or not to AD? Thoughts, opinions, recommendations please....
Dear all,Longtime lurker/sometimes poster over on the Rolex side. I have enjoyed reading and learning about PP from the various postings here. I have a birthday coming up and am in the market for the 5164a dual time Aquanaut. Happy #$% Birthday to me!I first saw this beautiful and functional timepiece at the PP boutique in NYC. So my question to you all is:Should I purchase this watch in person from a bricks and mortar AD? My wife and I like the idea of flying to NY for the day to pick it up, the added comfort of the FTF transaction, and knowledge that it is 100% legit...On the other hand, this watch can be had for significantly less from other grey market dealers. MSRP for this piece is about $35k USD and I have seen it online from some reputable grey marketers BNIB/papers for $30-31...as low as $28 on Chrono24 (but no idea about the dealer). What are the benefits to the AD route? Is there any other value the AD can add to the transaction? I am aware of the many pitfalls of g

Servicing my 5205g
My 2 week old 5205g has been scratched. I have no idea how it happened!Since this is my first Patek, this has lead me to wonder about some of the aspects of servicing. My AP, for example, I can service it within two years regardless if it is broken or not, and they did mine for free. They also polished the case in the process.Does service work the same way with Patek? Thanks in advance!
