U-Boat 1757 wrist watches news:
This watch comes with a great back story. A tale of a man they called crazy. A tale of a man, who probably is crazy, but we can all love him for that. It all started with Romain Jerome and their previous 'lord & ruler,' Yvan Arpa. The watch community generally has the perception that Yvan Arpa is a bit of aneccentric. One who creates ideas that are pretty wild. Half the time the ideas work, the other times, they most surely don't. One example of a failed idea was an all rusted watch (on the outside) enclosed in a hermetically sealed glass case. The idea was that once the glass was broken, the watch inside was guaranteed to work. To make a long story short, once some wild and wealthy people bought and subsequently broke the glass, the watch did not work at all - having been totally rusted through.Other ideas do work, such as Yvan's Titanic DNA watch for Romain Jerome. The watches worked so well, that they not only saved the dying Romain Jerome brand a few years ago, but catapulted i
I saw this on another forum and thought you all would get a good chuckle. Apparently Rolex is made in the UK.video.google/videoplay?do...ew&vt=lf&hl=en
There's a watch on the Swamp now, 370579153590, for an Elgin watch. It bills it as, "Antique Lord Elgin 10K Gold Shock Curve Mens Watch Kreisler gold Fill Band RARE", and a subtitle of "VERY RARE 673 USA 17 Jewels..."First, it ain't a Lord Elgin. That watch is from the early 1950s, when there were 3 grades, Elgin, Elgin DeLuxe, and Lord Elgin. This watch is a plain vanilla Elgin.Second, the watch itself is not rare. That case is one of those you'll see between 1 and 6 of on Ebay at any given time. It was one of Elgin's 'Banner Buys' back in 1952 - a loss leader sold for $33.75 to get folks into the jewelry store where the jeweler would try to sell them a higher grade watch.Third, it's 10k FILLED, not 10k gold.Fourth, 'Shock Curve'? What the hell does that even mean?Fifth, the 673 is THE MOST COMMON 670 series 15/0 movement, and the lowest grade.Sixth, the listing says, "The Elgin resources have this listed as a very rare Signiture Shock Movement." The 673, again, is common as d
It's that much nicer; it's that much more rare and discontinued; I just had to have one of these: SOLID, sapphire top crystal, 7S36A beauty! The dial is extraordinary...gorgeous black/white contrasting sword hands that coordinate with the calendar panels...well done. 40mm x 40mm @ 14mm high, and all of this at a nice weight of 160 grams. Did I mention the striking crosshatch center dial pattern, chrome-edged markers, and great lume?Angelis 8-)
So I am on waiting list(s) for the 5167A-001. I have not been given any indication of how long it would take. I just know I am number 11 on one waiitng list at an AD.While calling various ADs in Switzerland to check availability, I was told that waiting time for the 5164A-001 is only 3 months. So now I am questionning myslef on upgrading or not although budegt is not the same. Is the 5164A-001 taht easy to get from an AD?I would prefer to buy my first PP from an AD to at least get my name on the watch certificate. From grey, 5167 can be available within 1 months with a 8% premium.
