It is rare for one man to design every component of a watch¡¯s case, dial and movement. Peter Speake-Marin’s new Thalassa is such a watch. The harmonious design incorporates Peter’s trademark elements, and so is instantly recognizable as his. The blued©\steel of the outer dial, hands and seconds wheel create a nautical ambiance which inspired the name “Thalassa”, a sea goddess from Greek mythology and the personification of the Mediterranean Sea. The case is Peter’s iconic “Piccadilly” design, rendered in 18K white gold. The basic shape was inspired by the cases used to house prototype movements Peter worked with early in his career. PAtek 5990 Leather Strap Options?
Recently became the proud new owner of a stainless steel 5990! Love the watch, but I'm the kind of guy who swaps bracelets for straps in the summer. As such, I'm finding myself wearing my Aguanaut 5167 more than my new 5990 simply because of the bracelet vs strap. Does anyone know of suppliers who can craft a leather strap (or retrofit from another watch) for the 5990?

I'm just enjoying myself now. Newly found passion with this brand. The 422 has all the great elements of history and innovation, while maintaining its sleekness, quality, and overall masculine stoicness. The 422 is a superb addition to my collection. Seeing it next to my 332, Deepsea, Bluesy, and 1968 Datejust, I have the beginnings of a solid collection. Panerai is just solid.

Millennials asking questions
While talking watches with different demographics, I can¡¯t help but notice the following opinions over and over again, especially from young educated individuals that are less susceptible to any hype:1) Why does Rolex produce diving watches that can go to depths humans can¡¯t, when all it does is negatively affect everyday wearability2) Why would you drill an extra hole in the case (HEW), when the few people that actually need one are unlikely to dive with a $10k+ watch3) Why would you make brightly bi-coloured bezels, when Rolex needs to project elegance and class4) Why would you continue to produce so called sports and tool watches, when people doing sports wear Apple, Fitbit, Suunto, etc. and don¡¯t want to worry about their watch while doing so (¡­ substitute your own ¡°is it safe¡± activity¡­). In addition, a smart watch provides significantly more functionality.5) Why does Rolex stick to obsolete looking cases, instead of designing with simple, modern, and elegant curves that project c
