Switzerland¡¯s Competition Commission (COMCO) has approved a plan allowing the Swatch Group to reduce gradually sales of mechanical movements to companies outside the group over the next six years, and to halt sales completely in 2020. Click here for details on the ruling. The mechanical movement ruling settles a controversial issue that has bedeviled the Swiss watch industry for the past four years. On the related ¨C and even more controversial ¨C issue of sales of escapements, the regulating organ in a mechanical watch, COMCO left in place its July 12 ruling that it is ¡°premature¡± to allow any reductions in Swatch Group sales of those key components. The Swatch Group issued no formal reaction to the decision on mechanical movements. But it is a clear victory for the company, which declared its intention to stop selling mechanical movements and parts in late 2009. When I was a kid, the Hathaway shirt company was a classy participant in the world of men's fashion. They were represented in print and on tv with an actor who wore a patch over one eye, adding a little macho mystery and panache to the brand. I think that was the brainstorm of ad guru David Ogilvy. I am curious what you think gives Hamilton it's style and panache? Vote for as many answers as like.
I've had my automatic for almost two months now and when I got it I tracked it's accuracy and after one week it was +28 seconds (+4 seconds per day) and I just did it again and now after a week it's only +21 seconds fast (+3 seconds per day) so it's gained one second per week in precision in a month and a half. So, my question is, if in another month or so it's only +2 seconds per day could it eventually make it down to 0 and then start running slow, or will it find it's groove and run pretty much the same from then on?
Swung by there last week... I love everything about ap, but I was disappointed with the selection. They only had maybe 12 men's watches. Additionally the woman that helped me, while friendly, seemed to know very little about the brand. Mostly regurgitating a canned sales pitch. This won't turn me off to ap at all but I would like to think with only 4 (think this is right) boutiques in the US, they would have pretty much every watch they offer in stock for viewing. They only had a panda and safari in the offshore case. Wonder why they choose to limit the selection. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
