VC Overseas Chrono vs AP Royal Oak Chrono- My specific issues
I purchased a 42mm Royal Oak Offshore Chrono (AP 26470) just after the revised model clear case back and movement visualization. I really like the watch. I am a big chrono fan even though I do not use the chrono function all that often.. Well I decided i wanted a nice thin-- sport like chrono and I already owned the IWC 3777 pilot. I ended up getting a VC Overseas Chrono not too long ago. I like the general appearance and design of the pushers--- and it has a fairly decent water resistance rating. I would never likely purposely take it into a pool or other major water source. I had considered a Royal Oak Chronograph (AP 26320) instead of the VC but thought perhaps it would be too similar to my ROO Chrono. Nonetheless I was at a shop the other day and say a few of the Royal Oak Chronos in person (had seen them before) and said wow I forgot the contrast and clarity of the dial and sub dials on this model. The 14060 was made from 1990 - 2012 and the 16610 from 1987 - 2010, a 22 year and 23 year run respectively. If the case changes this year on the 114060 and 116610 then we're looking at a 6 year and 8 year run respectively on the current ceramics.As an owner of a 114060, I can't help but speculate as to what would happen if my watch is discontinued after a relatively short run of 6 years. I hope it will at least hold it's value, but am I wrong in thinking the watch becomes a rarity in modern Sub terms?
