Well, okay, not that big, but huge and chunky for vintage Chinese......and I considered it a huge hole in my collection, so there's that :DMeihualu (deer? spot deer?) 17 zuan. 39mm width not counting crown; 34/35mm movement and the case is about 45mm lug to lug (so, a touch taller on my wrist than my 44mm M/Militaires).The back isn't the prettiest of the Chinese casebacks I've seen, and it's kinda scratched upbut that doesn't mean I'm not thrilled to have it ;-) Besides, I'll be more careful with it than the last owners, I bet.I don't know much about the movement except that evidently it's a pocket watch movement installed in a wristwatchwhich explains the size of the watch.Here's a wrist shot, just to show the size on my 6.5" wrist. Like I said: not that big, but huge for vintage Chinese.I'd love to know more about this piece (age, history) so any folks who know, please chime in :-! I think 70s but...
I am considering getting a subscription to a watch magazine. I admittedly have not read too many watch related magazines so I wanted to get some input from other watch enthusiasts. Can someone give me a short explanation of why the Speedmaster automatics seem to have such a lower regard, technically, than the Speedy Pro's? I recognize the historical advantage that the SP's have. Thanks.
