Ulysse Nardin 8106-101ec-3c/20 wrist watches news:
I noticed a number of Oris watches actually have movements which are designed by Oris. Although they are based on ETA designs, I'm guessing that they are sufficiently different to be classified as Oris design (?).Anyway, my question is whether there is any value or significance of having a watch with an Oris designed movement? Is this something that people in this forum actually look at when deciding between Oris watches.
Those into vintage watches might well have heard about Codex. A brand from La Chaux-de-Fonds which went out of business in the late 1960s, if I remember correctly. Their watches were well made and had a serious following mostly in Asian markets.Did you know that up to 70% of all customers buying watches in the various watch shops in Lucerne are Chinese? The shops of Bucherer and G¨¹belin and many others are bustling with Chinese buying Swiss Made watches during their trip to Switzerland. You hear most of the big languages spoken in China as all shops have hired Chinese shop assistants. But what does it have to do with Codex? The Chinese watch giant Ebhor took note of the trend and registered the brand Codex in July 2009 and hired Messrs. Ren¨¦ Kohli and Laurence Courtois of Z¨¦nith and Cartier fame to set up a company called Swiss Chronometric SA in the heart of the Swiss watch making capital Bienne.Ebhor which runs more than 1000 retail outlets all over China saw the gap in the market p
Greetings, gentlemenI am in the process of reorganizing my humble collection, moving pieces I don't really wear that much and adding ones I would love and wear few days at a time on a weekly basis. In doing so, I noticed that the tone of Rose Gold is different for different brands. I really like my patek's RG tone, but not the watch itself, which I'll be moving. I'll have to replace it with something else as I would love to still have a RG watch in rotation. so, the question is... Has anyone ever compile a tone comparison of RG? In your experience, is there any other brands/manufacturers has similar RG tone as Patek and/or how are they different in tone? (for example, compared to rolex/AP/JLC/etc.) If there is such a reference, it would make the decision for many collectors looking into Rose Gold watches easier. To start off, I know that the tone of Patek's RG is warmer than that of ALS', which is just a tad more red than Patek's YG. I don't have a pic to show as I already let go of my
Hello everyone! Over the years my Aquanaut 5167 has kept near perfect time. Depending on how it was stored over night, I have been able to self-regulate it to spot on time. Although I'm not OCD with accuracy, it's precise timekeeping ability was a feature that really keeps me in love with this watch. However, about a week ago I noticed that it began loosing about 6 seconds per day. To make matters worse, there now seems to be no ability any longer to self-regulate by storing overnight in different positions. This has me puzzled. It has not been dropped, banged, or otherwise abused in any way. I don't believe it has been exposed to any electromagnetic fields. So I am not sure what would account for the sudden rate change. It was at the Patek Service Center only about 2 years ago for a full service to boot!I hate to send it back to Patek for service over 6 seconds per day. Lord knows it would likely be at the Boutique for 6 months based on the Patek service timetable and likely
