Two Vintage Breguet Pocketwatches Added to the Brand’s Collection of Historic Timepieces
Montres Breguet added to its private collection of historically significant watches, when brand president and CEO Marc A. Hayek acquired two important lots at a Christie’s Geneva auction last year: the Breguet no. 4039, a half-quarter repeating watch with an off-centered hour dial and date indication, and the extremely rare Breguet Tourbillon no. 1176.The first watch, the Breguet no. 4039, was originally sold to the Duke of Berwick on September 30, 1825, and went for a final auction price of? 70,000 Swiss francs at Christie’s. It is a remarkable example of one of Abraham-Louis Breguet’s extra-slim repeating timepieces made “sur les principles des chronom¨¨tres” (on the principles of chronometers). The Breguet No. 4039 has a case made of 18K gold and is outfitted with the “Caliber 21”'” movement, with an additional complication for the date indication (in a window at 6 o’clock). Hi All,I recently received a PAM 422 about a month ago as a gift to celebrate my wedding on Sept 26th. The first time I saw a Panerai I was immediately hooked, even if I didn't know it. At the time, I was wearing an Omega 2254 Seamaster, and the Luminor style watch with the large crownguard looked so different from anything else I had seen before. Although I thought the watch looked ugly, I felt inexplicably drawn to the design. My interest in Panerai and watches in general picked up, and I came very close to picking up a Zero or 112, but I ultimately held off because I decided to leave my job and go back to grad school.Fast forward five years and a lot sure has changed. I¡¯ve noticed that the submariner ¡°no date¡± has increased in price and is more desirable than ever. All steel sports Rolex are hard to get lately but it¡¯s a lot more rare to see a 114060 in the grey market these days. Interesting. Have Pre-Owned Rolex Prices Gone Up?
Hi Everyone,I've set aside the funds to purchase my first pre-owned Rolex, and I'm set on either the Sub-C (116610LN) or ceramic GMT Master II (116710LN).From some forum digging, I've noticed that in the recent months, resale prices on these sports models are going for quite a bit more than they were just half a year ago (CONUS). I was wondering if pre-owned market prices have risen linearly over time and I should just buy now, or if this is a cyclical trend of sorts (i.e. Rolex supplies fewer watches to ADs in Q4) and I should wait a few months?In a similar vein, should I expect any value changes to these models following Baselworld 2018?Thanks, and hope everyone has a happy New Year!
