While the famed ultra-thin movement (the thinnest in the world with a full rotor), the amazing Genta design, the incredible finishing on the stainless steel case, the fact that the watch essentially created the luxury sport watch category are all great things, the one thing most often overlooked is the unique design to the Royal Oak's dial.Since the very first Royal Oak was sold to the Shah of Iran, and those 1000 A-Series pieces left Le Brassus, they featured dials with a tapisserie pattern on them, a weaving pattern that forms the square and lozenge motif that captures the light and accentuates the timepiece’s "geometric relief." Wasn't Somebody Looking for this Dial ? ? ?
Hey guys!I vaguely remember that somebody was possibly looking for this Elgin dial a couple 2-3 months ago but I can't find the thread.This one came to me in a group of dials that I bought but I have no need for it, not really what I deal in or restore at this time.It's been refinished by somebody who knew what they were doing, it looks pretty nice.Raised gold numerals, size 4/0s from 1929-1933 probably.Let me know.

WARNING: If you're squeamish, you may want to close this thread right now.Okay, it's not that bad but now that we got that out of the way I'll show you the "before" pics. This is a 1961 gold capped Constellation Pie Pan on a two tone Beads of Rice bracelet. Inside is a 24j caliber 561 chronometer. This poor thing is beat, and it looks like water got inside. It's also been redialed at some point. Even though the work was poor all the pieces (ie: applied parts like the star logo, OMEGA, and indices) are still there which is a relief. Imagine trying to source them. The bracelet is missing a gold bead, and the clasp is broken too. It's a pity somebody let this nice of a watch deteriorate into this condition. This is a job for Bienne. I've already been in contact with them and plan on shipping it by the end of June. Sam had a look at it just to verify all the parts are authentic. He mentioned it's a lesser seen combination of case & bracelet in his experience so I'll take
