MCT Sequential One S110 Watches
Unique Swiss watch maker MCT is sort of back on the scene after being quiet for a few years. The brand's famous Sequential One timepiece was developed by movement designer Denis Giguet, who later left the brand. When I last spoke to him he told me that he would be working full time at Van Cleef & Arpels of all places. MCT was recently scooped up by a new guy I believe and has been trying to get it back on track. The first step is to revitalize the Sequential One with some design variations. Here are the two new MCT Sequential One S110 watches.Each has the same wonderfully original manually wound movement that has a revolving retrograde minute hand and hour markers on triangular shutters. Japanese temporal time?
Indeed, Japan used to have a unique Japanese time system that differed completely from the time system used in western countries.Basically till 1873 (that is the very year Japan adopted western time and the Georgian calendar), the Japanese used to divide the day in four parts each lasting six intervals. The time scale for daylight differed from the one used in night time.The length of the Japanese hour followed the seasons. The individual hours were named after the different signs of the Zodiac.Basically, the Japanese followed a time system governed by the sun and the moon.The first clocks from Europe reached Japan in the early years of the 16th century. The Japanese aristocracy took to them with verve and zest. This triggered the Japanese watch makers to adapt the Western clocks to the Japanese time system. Not a mean feat at all. How 'bout a little gold ?
I'm contemplating adding a little gold to my life....I would have to give up some pieces, possibly including my current AP...would you consider a....- 44 ROO Novelty 26400RO- 42mm ROO Chrono 26470OR- 41mm RO Chrono 26320OR- 41mm RO non Chrono 15400ORThis may be my only AP after the shuffle and would not be a daily wearer, but I would need it to be as versatile as possible....from shorts to jeans to suits.....TIA !

5711 as a full-time, all-day, everyday wearer?
Good day everyone,I've been struggling lately about a decision between a 5711 and a DD40 YG silver/roman.Truth is I prefer the 5711 but it's important to me to be able to wear a watch all-day, everyday, all the time. The DD40 is probably more durable etc (although the WR of the 5711 is 120m v. the DD40 is 100m).I'm a one-watch guy (except I wear a BR 03-92 on strap mostly in the winter).I wear a TT ceramic sub at the moment (which i'm going to trade). I sleep with it, shower with it, splash around at the beach, take it in the pool, wear it to yoga, etc. I wouldn't obviously re-pave the driveway wearing my sub (or any watch).What do you all think? Would I be expecting too much from the 5711? Is it too fragile? Am I putting the 5711 in too much danger of needing service (which I understand could take upwards of a year)?Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences.Mike
