One of the guys I work with has a minor watch fetish. This is one his acquisitions. It's an H.Y. Moser, dated from around 1885. When he got it, it wasn't running, and it just needed a good goin' through. He brought it to my jeweler, and she carefully and patiently restored the watch. The original parts were all hand-milled and, to maintain the integrity of the watch, she only wanted to use hand-milled parts, as required, for replacements. She had to contact some colleagues in Europe to obtain some of the parts she used. The hand-painted dial was intact and clean, which was a good thing. She said finding another one would've been difficult, at best.Unfortunately, she didn't photograph the watch during the restoration process. She said it was likely a ship's Captain's pocket watch, re-cased around the turn of the century as a wristwatch. The strap, obviously, is not original (it's made by a company called Banda), so I didn't go out of my way to photograph that. So, here ya' go:It was diffic
Hey All,I need a bit of help picking out a new watch. I'm looking between a 15400ST in white or black dial vs a SS Daytona for a daily. Now i love the Ap more, but just waned to know how the stainless wears daily. I have a 26320OR on strap and i love it but not sure how it would hold up if i wore it daily.
Hey guys, what's the best way to clean the rubber strap?Warm water and soap?
I guess it is futile to ask, you either know the answer to this question and can't post it here, or you don't, but I will ask anyway. A little guesswork and discussion never did any harm.Anyway, in another forum I came across a thread about dive watch A vs dive watch B. I did a a little research and found that one of these watches, an Omega costs almost as much as a new Submariner. To my thinking the Omega is not in the same league as a Submariner but the price is uncomfortable close. https://.omegawatches/en-us/w...ction/catalog/So, what gives? Is the Sub under priced? Is the Omega overpriced? Are they in fact equivalent watches so it makes sense to price them similarly?Given this situation and the fact that it is very difficult to get a new Sub, then I suspect the price of a new Sub is going up soon. Do you agree?
