I was killing some time after taking apart my 1970 ambassador project watch and giving the parts time to soak. So I started lurking on the web when I came across a couple of classic 1940's watches. I thought I would share them with you fine folks here and see if you think these are artistic license or ruined art.Frankenbulova.jpgFrankenGruen.jpgIs it better to botch a restoration or make a completely new dial of it?

Alas, I didn't bring a proper camera on this trip, so we'll have to make do with iPhone snaps...To celebrate completing my final class towards the master's and drafting the first three chapters of the thesis, I'm taking a few days to relax before, er, getting back to writing the thesis. Not exactly the right weather for a long drive in the convertible, but what the heck, it has heated seats. So off to the National Watch & Clock Museum in Columbia, PA!I chose the 1925 Ladies Bracelet watch (pocket watch which can be worn on the wrist) as my companion for the day. I would have taken a photo, but the one on display is in even nicer condition:How much would you bid on eBay for this grouping?There were fewer wristwatches on display than I had anticipated. The pocket watch selection, however, was vast. Here are a couple Hamiltons that left me breathless:Sigh.I stopped by the library in hopes that I could finally make a positive identification on my unidentifiable spiderweb-patterned dial
