Zenith 03.2117.4002/23.c704 wrist watches news:
For June 2014, the watches-dealer giveaway watch is a Serket Telson PVD manually wound limited edition watch. With a refined masculine and military aviator style, the Serket Telson PVD is 48mm wide in black PVD-coated steel. We like the highly contrasting dial and simple, yet attractive design of the Telson PVD watch from this boutique watch maker. Inside the Serket Telson PVD manual wind watch is a Swiss ETA 6497 manually wound movement which is visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. There is also a Serket logo scorpion placed on the movement. The case is water resistant to 100 meters and each Serket Telson PVD watches comes with three strap options that includes a steel metal bracelet, NATO-style and black leather strap. Limited to just 200 pieces the Serket Telson PVD has a retail price of $1,295 and can be purchased from the Serket website. Yes, incredible as it sounded to me, the last day we were in Las Vegas last this week, our taxi driver looks at my watch and said, "Nice Daytona. I love that watch, I have one too." I asked him how he got it, what the story was. He said he was on an AD's list in Las Vegas for a while and finally got the call. He said he could have easily gotten a TT one for about the same money or less, but he had to have a SS one. I told him about this forum and wrote down the link for him on the back of my business card. Maybe we'll see him here one day. He said taxi drivers can make about $70k a year there after I mentioned that he's doing quite well for himself. He said he also gets to most of the shows in Vegas for free. Some taxi association gets him free tix and then he tells passengers how great the show was if he likes it. Pretty cool dealOn with the storywent to Vegas this week for 5 nights for the first time and loved it. We had free airfare due to points we saved up over many year
I have heard anecdotally from friends - 2 of them say they never have to manually wind their daily-wear automatic, unless of course they take it off for a couple of days. Just the occasional time reset which they are OK with. One standout is a guy who for a very short time had a used Rolex automatic of unknown history, many years ago, who claimed it would "die on the wrist" if not wound every so often, had to set the time "all the time" - and being in his 20's at the time opted for a nice quartz Omega without bothering to even try to get the Rolex fixed. What is your experience? Should an Rolex-level-quality automatic "never" require winding if worn daily, assuming it's well-maintained and not many decades old?
I have a 1940s Premier Chronograph. Timekeeping is amazing and chronograph function works on all but bottom dial which won't reset! Would you know if it's a big job to repair? The dial and hands appear original and untouched. I'm based in London. Thanks
Figured I'd share with you guys here at TRF as well!
