I finally got around to taking my 37 year old Timex electric to a watchmaker for an estimate. It will run with a new battery, but a battery only lasts a few months, and it loses about 4 hours per day while running.After opening it up, the watchmaker said he'd call me with an estimate on Monday, but he was guessing between $80 and $120.So here's the dilemma: The sentimental value of this watch is worth well more than $80 - $120, but is the sentimental value enhanced by the ability to wear it in my rotation? I know that's a question only I can answer, but I thought maybe some of you had both: watches with sentimental value that work well and you can wear and watches with sentimental value that don't function, and you can't wear. For those of you who do, does being able to wear it add to the satisfaction? It was the favorite one I tried on while in Vegas. Truly amazing. However, like a fellow friend here, I won't pay MSRP for one. It really sang to me though.
