Spring has sprung, and with it new colors are everywhere. Arnold & Son has given us a spring of its own: the La Chaux-de-Fonds brand just introduced three new variations on its renowned UTTE model. Here’s a look at the new hues and materials Arnold & Son has on offer. Arnold & Son created great buzz in 2013 when it launched the UTTE ¨C a name that stands for “Ultra-Thin Tourbillon Escapement.” In fact, you could say that the UTTE was a major part of Arnold’s rise to prominence as a small, high-end Swiss brand. The UTTE movement is something to behold: it’s just 2.97 mm thick. Cased up, the watch is still only 8.34 mm thick. Sotheby's Hong Kong has just announced the highlights from their upcoming sale on October 6th. The sale will consist of 420 lots with an estimate exceeding 86 million HKD ($11 million US). The sale consists of a range of pieces from all the major watch brands with a spattering of jeweled pieces, modern wristwatches, and vintage pieces. BUT the most exciting part of the sale is the vintage Patek Philippe Reference 2523 World-Time with dual-crown. 1 OF 2 Leading the pack is an incredibly cool Patek Philippe Reference 2523/1 Yellow Gold World Time Wristwatch with 24-hour indication and double crown, made in 1968 with an estimate of 4 to 5.5 million HKD ( $510,000 to $710,000 US). The reference 2523 was an extension of Louis Cottier's famous world-time design (invented in 1931) but with a new two-crown design that was launched in 1953. Hi, This is my old Swiss made Ellis. I know little about the make other than it is Swiss.inside the case back there are several marks which I guess are service dates, but I am not sure. In order from top to bottom they read- 718W, 829W, 456, and cant read the next few lines then it reads 11-08. Case back also says S. Kocher & Co Swiss. Anyone able to help age this watch? Talis Automatic ??
Picked this up a while ago put it in the watch case and kinda forgot about it. Took it out this morning gave it a new band, two or three turns on the winder to get it going and it's been running like a champ all day. 12 and a half hours so far and keeping absolute perfect time. (If an old no name auto like this stays within a minute a day I'm happy)Does anyone know just what exactly I have here?? I've searched the web with very little luck. Pretty much just this:Talis = "The Talis Watch Co.", La Chaux-de-Fonds and London, active in 1917 to 1937, then another sign of life in 1959What little information I have found has been on what are likely later incarnations of this company, where the name on the dial is surrounded by a batman like outline.Any info would be greatly appreciated.
