Ladoire Roller Guardian Time – The UFO of Watchmaking?
Lionel Ladoire launched his eponymous company in 2007 and his first timepiece is an audacious effort. He refers to it as the UFO of watchmaking, and the company’s press materials acknowledge that this piece leaves no one indifferent. It may not come as a surprise that Ladoire is a surfer and a rock drummer as well as a talented young watchmaker. If you saw him on the street, you would not think “I bet he’s a horologist.” Others claim to be nonconformists; Ladoire walks the walk. Ladoire’s creation is called the Roller Guardian Time, or RGT, and at 56 x 45 x 16.3mm, this uniquely-shaped timepiece makes a striking statement on the wrist. The shape has been likened to that of a pebble, and the analogy is apt. The asymmetric shape is soft, organic, and surprisingly balanced. I must say that the first time I saw the YES watch, I was confused and did not know what to make of it. I read the long list of features it had and all the information it was able to provide and was instantly perplexed. Manual or Auto Speedy?
I'm sure this question has been asked a thousand times so, sorry for the repetition. I am now officially bitten. So, I have a PO Big, which I really like, but of course it starts with one. I must have a Speedmaster. Certainly that is one of the many classic Omega? I'm not sure about the manual wind. I've not had a manual wind watch. How is it? Specifically; how often do you have to wind? Clearly, you can't put in on a winder. So, does it need to be wound and worn a certain amount? Any thoughts on; If I can only add one Speedy, which it should be?Thanks.

Well after I bought my wife a Santos for her birthday and told her how much I liked it, she ended up buying me a Santos for my birthday. Go figure. I really like the look of this watch. Most of my watches are dress watches so it is nice to have something I can wear when dressing down. Very nice finishing details on the Santos. The bracelet is really nicely done and the dial is simple yet elegant. I really like addition of the hidden deployment clasp as well. Makes for a nice seamless look.
