I continue to lament the loss of watch industry design and figure-head Gerald Genta who died this year. People tend to remember him most for his classic contributions to the industry - which include 1970s' designs for the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, Vacheron Constantin Overseas, IWC Ingenieur, and Patek Philippe Nautilus. Granted these were all amazing and endearing designs - though they were however obvious siblings of one another. My colleague at Fratello Watches discusses those here a bit. Personally, I am a bit more interested in his later work. All that is summed up and epitomized in the Gefica Bi-Retro.The modern interpretation of the Gefica concept is a watch I dearly want to add to my collection (and I rarely say things like that about watches that are no longer being made). Been somewhat inactive for the past few months, and signed in at Watchlords to re-engage myself in the watch world....what a mistake!I made the fatal error of saying I had purchased a few Invictas, had some quality issues and wanted to expand my collection to some other makers.Then the attacks began, and did not stop. Holy crap there are some angry hateful people that think Invicta is the anti-Christ! No matter what I said, I was a JS lover, a MD fan, a plant for Invicta, and on and on.The guy that started the site is apparently suing all things Invicta, and good for him if what he says happened is true....but they literally chew new members up if they even think you know how to spell Invicta. Talk about paranoid!Anyway, I had my fill after 50-60 posts calling me every name in the book and multiple requests to have my mom available for sexual encounters. Acting like a bunch of 10-year old thugs fighting over a Sears Lingerie catalog.So I am glad to be back. Among the civilized. W

Thoughts on strap change?
Hi all. I have a 5396 in white gold. The AD sent me a beautiful authentic Patek alligator strap in golden brown that would go great with a belt and shoes I have. The strap itself is only about $400 CAD and I'd be looking at about another $5000 CAD for the gold clasp and other hardware. This would allow me to change the strap on the fly and allow me to coordinate better. I'll post pics of the strap when I get home. Thoughts?

Is the newer 'heavy' jubilee bracelet better than the old ones?
So I'm wondering about these new heavy style jubilee link bracelets, specifically for ladies watches (if that makes a difference). The links appear to be tighter and more compact- therefore are these new bracelets better at resisting the notorious jubilee stretch over time?Also for the ladies models, is there such a thing as a DJ w/ jubilee bracelet that comes in white gold and steel bracelet? Or are all of them all steel? If the WG and steel bracelets do exist, are they a relatively new introduction? Thanks ya'll!
