Baume & Mercier M0A10005 wrist watches news:
...as many of you know, we have started a trend in 2006 that brought many WISfrom all around the world even closer. Some guys just jump in the car and get there,(some lucky ones just take a cab or subway)¡but many have boarded the planesor crossed the oceans !Not that GTG¡¯s are something new, but I think that back in 2006 we started something very special.Something that brings this great watch enthusiasts community even closer and something thatis actually ¡®way¡¯ beyond watches. I am glad that watches are my hobby ! Because of them I havemet many great people whom I am proud to call my friends now !What started innocently in fall of 2006 is now slowly but surely becoming a tradition.By now we had 2 nice autumn meetings in Tampa and two in spring that took place in New York.In-between these larger events several of us met in Las Vegas, London or Basel, but somewhatthe FALL/TPA and SPRING /NYC meetings that are 6 months apart are becoming the events that we hope will become a part of you
Why is the number 4 on Roman style dials written as IIII?That question I was recently asked by one of our retailers in the Middle East.Frankly speaking, I was taken aback as I had never contemplated the why but just carried on what my grand-father had done. So, I started diving into the topic in more detail and noted that on most watch dials following the Roman way of numbering the number 4 is written as IIII. The correct way would be IV, however.I then started asking some of my fellow watch manufacturers and mind you no-one could come up with an answer. It seemed as if we all just had not paid any attention to the why. When I started looking at some more dials, I noted that the first four numbers (I, II, III, IIII) are composed of dashes only, the next four (the middle ones so to speak) contain a "V" (V, VI, VII, VIII) and the last four digits are composed using an "X" IX, X, XI, XII). This hold true for watches having no date window. Could this harmony lay at the base of the peculiar s
Well Finally! I have purchased my first Rolex! An explorer II, white face. This is a watch I have always liked, and I just happened to find one for a great price. I'm leaving town Til sunday, so hopefully I will have it early next week. The wait is almost literally going to kill me. Here is pic from the seller.P.S Many more pics to come once I get it!!
OK, I'm still trying to find my next watch for under 2 grand. I'm finding that I think I am drawn to cushion shapes of sorts. Something different. Outside of a Reverso or a JD Grand Second, I really want a Franck Muller Conquestador - my grail. First, check this out:Another watch that I really like is the Dubey & Schaldenbrand. It might be possible to find a used one along these lines:So, you get the idea. I want to get this sort of vibe in a more affordable watch. Now, I've always been drawn to Cuervo y Sobrano:I like the 30s 'hour glass' look of this watch. There is something about the 'Havana' look that draws me in. I'm not sure why. I think I could find one of these used for what I want to pay.And then there is the 'homage' that I think looks fantastic - the FC 'Cohiba':Finally, I really like this German watch from the Temption company. Very high quality and value. Sapphire top and bottom. It is designed to be highly visible. This company even subdues its own logo
