Update on the mystery of the Parachrom Bleu in the Daytona
Greetings,Just a quick note to let everyone know I've reached out to my contacts at Rolex USA to try and get some clarity on the Parachrom Bleu hair spring on the Daytona. Here's what I've been able to determine:-The Parachrom hairspring was actually developed by Rolex in the late 1990's. So from that perspective, it is entirely possible that it could have been incorporated on all 4130 equiped Daytonas (debuted in 2000). -The head watchmaker at Rolex UK is reportedly saying that the the Parachrom hairspring has always been on the 4130 (this report makes sense because it matches up to information James Dowling has been given and reported...James is UK based). -When it has been pointed out to him that there are many documented photographs of a non-blue hairspring on various serials of 4130 equipped Daytonas, the indication is that the Parachrom hairspring has not always been blue. Above all else, I like the simple design, "arabic numbers," and the overall feel a Panerai gives you. I can't tell you how many times I've looked at them in the store.OK! I am looking at the following models and would greatly appreciate everyone's educated Panerai knowledge on them to try and help me decide which model.PAM:111176177104It really comes down to whether or not I would want a manual wind or the one automatic I have on the list (104). It is the most expensive of the 4. The 176 is the cleanest looking. DSLR Shots of my AP Royal Oak Jumbo 15202
As usual, my most beautiful timepiece gets the royal DSLR shot treatment. What it means? Well, vast majority of my watch pics are taken using my trusty Samsung Galaxy Smartphone. Just point and shoot and the pics most of the time they turn out very nice. So there is really no need to dust off my big and clumsy Nikon. Right? Just see the Jumbo Appreciation thread! Actually, it's because I am lazy and I can't be bothered to whip out my Nikon D5100 DSLR, setup my tripod and adjust all the settings etc to get the perfect shot. However, one thing a camera phone can't do is to duplicate a DSLR camera in capturing all the tiny details that make our watches special. Especially under a macro lens like my Nikkor 105mm. So a serious photo shoot still calls for me to bring out my best camera. I finally found the energy and time today to do that again in a rainy Saturday afternoon here.
