Just Arrived: Lord Elgin Panorama
It arrived last night and I spent until the wee hours cleaning and polishing it. By far, this had to be the most gunked up watch case I've ever cleaned. I had to take a Dremel to the dirt, after a soaking it, to removed it. It was so hardened that hand buffing was just futile. Additionally the crystal was very scratched as well (I should have a new one from Esslinger coming soon).All in all though it cleaned up nicely. The case has more wear through on the 14K gold filling than I'd like, but at arm's length, it looks fine.The dial is pristine except for a blemish at 11. The crystal did buff out nicely in the end. The movement is the 23 jewel 724.I've been looking for this one for a while because it has that late 50's American look to it that I find appealing.As you can see from Genejockey's ad research, this watch is called the Panorama. At the time of the ad, it came with Elgin's 21 jewel movement, which was later upgraded to the 23 jewel model. Back in the day, it went for $

Why I love my watchwinders...
I really do love my winders and use them daily. A nice winder really adds a touch of luxury to life. Walking in our bedroom, I can look over and admire the beauty of of the winder, like nice piece of furniture. And it gives me the opportunity to observe my cherished watches. While no one ever asks me about my watches, whenever we give the "nickel tour" of our home to our friends, when we go through the bedroom, someone always asks "what's this?" I smile and explain what a watch winder is. :D Of course, the utility of always having my watches "fully powered" and ready to go is beyond a convienence...it's a blessing. I wonder if anyone collects watch winders themselves....

Nice to be able to say Hello and Happy I've found my way to this Forum.I have always been interested in watches (still don't know why precisely?) and now find I have some time to devote to learning more about them, and perhaps what makes Me Tic (So Sorry 4 the pun)I have been reading over the Forum the past few days and recognize the vast amount of knowledge contributed here. Hell, I'm impressed I truly hope in time to meet many of you and learn from you.I have so many questions that I need to regroup , and examine where I need to start. I also hope that I can contribute something to this Forum as well, which begs the question " Well, whadda ya know ? AP ROO Bracelet and Case comfort
So I'm finally going to do it. Probably sending money today.Im pulling a trigger on a AP ROO on a bracelet (42mm). I have a 6.5 wrist. My biggest concern is comfort. I own a 44mm PAM 359 with a 50s case, its hard for me to wear due to its very uncomfortable imo. Does the AP ROO wear similarly to that PAM i don't want to buy such a big watch and end up hating it.I know a 39mm option is out there for AP but not really into that right now. Im just focused on the AP ROO 42mm at the moment.Any info on comfort of the 42mm AP ROO on a bracelet is greatly appriciated.

Authentic 1972 Oyster Perpetual?
I came across a 1973 Oyster Perpetual Rolex for a little under $2,000. I had some questions regarding what a good price would be for a watch this old and with some heavy bracelet stretching. My friend said he thought the band was a fake, but the seller believed it authentic, I had a hard time deciding. This will be my first Rolex so I appreciate your help.
