Within the next week, my budget for my next watch may increase to $1,000 - give or take $50 - $100.My guess is that opens up my options, and here are my criteria:Option1: One watch with the following:AutomaticAcceptable for casual or dressy wearSapphire crystalNot a white dial - prefer a brown/bronze colored dial - other colors consideredDate acceptable, but not required, and definitely not a fan of day and date unless it is in some format other than day window right next to date window. No chrono - I've never used the chrono feature on any of the watches I have other than to make sure they work.Prefer Swiss made.Probably no larger than 40 or 41mm.No moon phase.Power reserve would be nice, if subtle, but certainly not required. No gold plating - solid gold would be okay, but I doubt would be in my price range.Well respected brand name among WIS - don't care if people who know nothing about watches know the name.No brands that have an MSRP that is 10 times what anybody ever pays for them
hII have an original seiko watch with original leather belt( not wrist but trouser belt) the watch folds out/down from a solid silver case to read the time.can any one help with some info about itthanxFRED
Incidentally, I do not own a Rolex or PP yet. Future grails of mine would be a 5712 SS and/or a 6263 Daytona. I realize that the PN Daytona would be a long and arduous hunt to find an authentic piece in good condition. Additionally, some of these vintage pieces can be 6 figures, though I would shoot for one in the $40-80k range. The 5712 is well known by you all, and it is a classic Nautilus that I definitely will acquire one day. It will complete the Trinity in my collection (AP 15305OR and VC Overseas and Toledo 1952)Which would you go for first?Sent from my 16M
Greetings, gentlemenI am in the process of reorganizing my humble collection, moving pieces I don't really wear that much and adding ones I would love and wear few days at a time on a weekly basis. In doing so, I noticed that the tone of Rose Gold is different for different brands. I really like my patek's RG tone, but not the watch itself, which I'll be moving. I'll have to replace it with something else as I would love to still have a RG watch in rotation. so, the question is... Has anyone ever compile a tone comparison of RG? In your experience, is there any other brands/manufacturers has similar RG tone as Patek and/or how are they different in tone? (for example, compared to rolex/AP/JLC/etc.) If there is such a reference, it would make the decision for many collectors looking into Rose Gold watches easier. To start off, I know that the tone of Patek's RG is warmer than that of ALS', which is just a tad more red than Patek's YG. I don't have a pic to show as I already let go of my
